Jared Goff’s brain has been utterly broken since he got figured out by Belichick in front of the universe in that Super Bowl. I’m not sure why anybody would expect anything less of him. McVay is thrilled he has an actual QB now.

I mean you should have an issue because even if your d sucks getting a touchdown doesn’t change the situation much. Like you could force a FG and still be down one score but if you think your D can’t stop them why assume they will stop them

Goff is clearly not the future, which is actually great. It means he's firmly a bridge QB and the organization won't have any delusions about him maybe improving and can focus on getting a QB when a prospect falls into their laps either next year or the year after.

I got no love for the Vikings, but in the very quick replay I saw it did look like Thielen was being interfered with. It was one quick replay so no idea if it was legit.

All things considered i feel like that was a decent loss for the Vikings. Didn't get blown out by the Browns and the defense kept them in check. Probably relied on the run for longer than they should have though

I don't blame him for the loss or think Cleveland is bad (they're first in the north, no one thinks they're bad). I posted that right after the late three and out because he played terribly a couple drives in a row because the pass rush was getting to him. The oline isn't good and you have to know you can't hold onto the ball that long with no run game and Myles Garrett coming at you.

Wanna go back real quick to respond to this post:CharlestheHammer posted:I mean you should have an issue because even if your d sucks getting a touchdown doesn’t change the situation much. So going for the TD there was the right call for a couple of reasons. First and foremost: When you're down 10 points, eventually you're gonna have to score a TD, and it's a hell of a lot easier to do that from the 8 yard line as opposed to having to march all the way downfield to get it. Scoring a TD there also ensures that you still have the chance to win the game outright in regulation with two touchdowns, as opposed to either risking a 2 point conversion or overtime. The other thing to consider is that scoring a TD means that the Bears can't simply put the game away with another field goal. So long as the defense can get one third down stop, the Lions are still only down a single score. I think going for it was absolutely the right call—and the Lions would have converted, if not for Goff forgetting how to throw to a wide-open receiver. Going for it earlier in the game on 4th and goal from the 5 yard line is an iffier call, but I'm still fine with it. Going into the game the team was starting an undrafted rookie at corner, our highest-paid defensive player was out, and we lost our best pass rusher (likely for the season) before the end of the first quarter. This defense is so thin that asking them to stop anything is a tall ask, and to stay in games this team needs to score as many touchdowns as possible. ...Which would probably be easier if our WR1 wasn't on IR. Or if our top LT was playing. Or if our all-pro center hadn't also been injured. Or if our QB could actually throw something other than a checkdown. Or...
