don’t get a big cushiony bicycle seat unless it’s some beach cruiser thing that you’re going <1 mile on

the cushioning will just compress and cut off your circulation and make your rear end fall asleep and smash your genitals

get some good shorts with a built in pad and learn to distribute your weight between your butt, your feet, and your arms (you shouldn’t just be sitting on your butt, it’s a saddle not a seat). this will also require you ensure your bike is set up right and fitted to you. make sure your saddle is the right width for your sitbones too

you need to ramp up the mileage slowly but after a month or so of riding a few times a week you shouldn’t have much soreness imo
