Honestly it's probably one of those things that worked great when Idaho was in the wilderness and it took three weeks to go somewhere and the governor had to leave the state to go someplace else or whatever but for some reason they've never changed it in the era where it takes three hours to fly anywhere within the US

Federal law and state law demand it, and you can be legally liable if you knowing dispense a medication being improperly prescribed that leads to patient harm. Go ahead and report them to the state board. They probably already issued guidance saying not to dispense ivermectin for covid patients. I know my local board did something similar for hydroxychloroquine back in 2020.

It is tough for me because on one hand I like to see Lindsay Graham get boo'd by his constituents. On the other hand I wish they would want to get vaccinated. It is tough to meet in the middle on that one.

When Boris Yeltsin, then-leader of the Soviet Union, visited the US on a diplomatic mission involving the Johnson Space Center in 1989, he arrived believing that claims of Americans having an abundance of cheap food available at supermarkets in each and every neighborhood to be pure propaganda and therefore an obvious lie. In fact, he absolutely did not believe such a thing to even be possible under the greatest of circumstances, especially through capitalism. Back home his people were starving; systematic corruption made it extremely difficult to buy food, as most of the food being produced never made it to the marketplace.

At his request, the secret service escorted Yeltsin around a supermarket of his choice, where he asked shoppers what they were buying, how much they were paying for the food in their basket, and how often they bought groceries. He could not believe the variety of food available. He later wrote, "When I saw those shelves crammed with hundreds, thousands of cans, cartons and goods of every possible sort, for the first time I felt quite frankly sick with despair for the Soviet people."

Keep in mind that this was during the cold war and the Soviet Union was extremely paranoid about the US. Any politician seen as getting cozy with the enemy would likely disappear and be replaced with another politician, no questions asked. Despite the risks and embarrassment, he wanted his people to have access to food. He did the patriotic thing and admitted that he was wrong and reported his truthful findings to the Soviet people. He then focused his efforts on improving the quality of life and access to food for Soviet citizens by way of making systematic changes that would stamp out corruption and allow food to be delivered directly from farm to market.

Eventually, Yeltsin was given the option of either resigning or going to jail. His successor was Vladimir Putin.

Boris Yeltsin was faaaaar more patriotic, brave, intelligent, and principled than any CHUD. These fucks can't admit they're wrong to themselves in the face of overwhelming evidence that the vaccines are safe and effective. I can't think of a single modern Republican politician that has done anything to indicate that they would ever act for the good of the nation, let alone, risk everything selflessly for the nation in the way that Yeltsin did.

I was under the impression that Yeltsin's name is synonymous with nightmare levels of corruption and wholesale crony-capitalism and that Putin (while evil) stomped all of that out. 1990s Russia was a hellscape and there is a reason he has huge popularity to this day aside from propaganda.

Edit: actually wait a minute Gorbachev was the Soviet leader in 1989, Yeltsin was after the collapse and was the first president of the Russian Federation

There is no job more ripe for automation than Pharmacists. A sufficiently complex vending machine would be far more efficient and less prone to errors. I was given the wrong medicine as a child, where instead of getting an antibiotic, I would have been taking a very strong adult blood pressure medicine - thankfully my parent noticed the pill did not look right.

Recently, I had a pharmacist refuse to refill a non-scheduled topical antibiotic ointment that my mom's doctor called in refills on to heal her badly wounded arms after an automobile accident because she said one tube should last 30 days. I asked her how much surface area should 1 gram of ointment be able to cover at the minimal layer of thickness, and she refused to answer. gently caress I HATE PHARMACISTS.

That's like how Stalin allowed the Grapes of Wrath to be shown in the Soviet Union to portray the failure of capitalism

quote:

This screening of “The Grapes of Wrath” in the Soviet Union, however, did not land the way that Stalin anticipated. Rather than stir up anti-capitalist emotions, the Soviets that viewed “The Road to Wrath”, as it was titled in the U.S.S.R, were in complete awe that even the poorest of the poor in the United States were able to save their money and afford an automobile. As the wrong message continued to spread, Stalin decided to pull the film from theaters after a few short weeks.

Sorry about your rear end in a top hat pharmacist, but you are wrong on this one. I actually work in pharmacy automation, and trust me when I say there are more layers of complexity than AI can handle right now. There is a ton of grey area where "professional judgment" must be used (which is where you get your rear end in a top hat pharmacist because there are a lot of idiot assholes in the field), a lot of legal liability tied to a professional license on just about everything that happens in the pharmacy, and just logistical stuff like who is going to manage and be responsible for this multi-million dollar drug inventory with strict, legally required storage and documentation. That's just retail, add in hospitals and it becomes an order of magnitude more complex.

My dad got cancer and slowly died at home because he didn't want to die in a hospital bed. I moved home to help take care of him and my parents' dogs.

After 6 months of agony, he died and their elderly greyhound knew something was up. She came in looking for him after his body was removed. She searched all over the house and couldn't find him, obviously very distraught. The next day she came in from outside and was acting strange. Her legs were wobbling and she was desperate to get upstairs and wouldn't let me check her out. She got up to the side of my dad's bed where he used to be and died right there on the spot. The vets say she had a stroke, likely due to the stress of my father being gone.

It was months before we could bury her because the ground was still frozen but managed to get it done otherwise.

I am sincerely sorry for the loss of your dog, friend. There's nothing worse than losing something that shares such a noticeable chunk of your life with you; something that just wants to feel love and make sure you feel loved. We should all be so lucky to have a critter in our lives, even for a short amount of time.

Sometimes I dream about her and my dad; hell, it happened last night. My dad was just sitting on his comfy couch and the greyhound was resting her head on his knee. I thought it was one of those situations where they couldn't see me and I was just stuck observing like some kind of bitter-sweet scene from a movie but after a while, they both looked at me and my father said "lol can you believe that trump was president?"
