M_Gargantua posted:Wait so they evac'd a Hilux but left tons of allied Afghans? The story has more details about it (RedState had yelled about something similar - except slanted to "y u no evac Americans"). A whole lot of the military/civilian evacuation flights were half-empty because of the logjam at the airport. Said logjam was a Stephen Miller special - processing speed for SIVs was essentially nil throughout the Trump administration and the early months of the Biden administration were essentially the same as the process was still completely broken. And it's not like an emergency process is going to get everyone out when you're about 30 feet from Taliban and manning a guntruck just to keep them honest. Best to read the funny story without thinking too hard about it, you'll always find a plot hole full of pain.

Pine Cone Jones posted:Are there any updates on the moderna booster shots? I believe they've been submitted for approval and are on the board's agenda with the 5-11 pfizer and the j&j booster. Of note, iirc, the spikevax third shot is half the dose of the first two so it hopefully won't wreck people as bad. Also, of note, spikevax is still doing well if you're not old or immunocompromised. I'm ready to get mine, too. Just waiting on the go ahead from the VA and I'm rolling in for my stick.

CVS just gave me a 3rd dose of Moderna for being over 18 and working outside the home so you don't have to wait for booster-specific guidance if you don't want to Its full strength though so i got hit harder than I did with the 2nd dose

I don't even know what we do as a nation get accountability in law enforcement and actually reigning them in since they'll meet protests with violence and our elected leaders are totally cool with it and will continue to back them doing violence

It didn't actually happen anywhere.

Doesn't include any metrics regarding the time-streamed as aphid licker pointed out, but it still doesn't add up in my head initially without doing the math (because lol @ actually doing any math on streamers).

Free Guy is actually and surprisingly not-over-the-top and pretty well done. It - equally surprisingly - doesn't ham-fistedly try to be something else that's already been done ad nauseam, it just kinda does it's thing and it works as an entertaining movie. I somehow heard nothing about it until the posts earlier today, and expected it to be a less-lovely ready player one, but it's somehow the polar opposite.

Senate GOP harrumphed a bit, then allowed the debt ceiling raise to clear 61-38, then the full bill passed 50-48. It gets kicked back to the House, then the ceiling is no longer a catastrophic event until December
