why would ea absorb the company that made a game for square enix it's likely more that se pushed on a very ill-advised online game that fell through and killed ufg's one big ip, leaving them to wander the earth doing assistant dev work. it seems like every single project they took up after triad wars was more of a desperate attempt to keep some cash flowing in, since once they finally tried making an original game again they couldn't even support it for a full month. wasn't the last time square enix would mismanage a project that hard in the 2010s with how they forgot to even tell the legacy of kain dead sun devs that their game was cancelled for like a month... their game that, they also, attempted to spin into an ill-advised mp game that died instantly. Yes, it’s great (the Chain of Memories and 358 ones are honestly better than the games themselves in my opinion). There’s a KH3 one currently ongoing but I’m not sure if it’s being translated anymore (the last update I saw was in December of last year)

I don't even think you're entirely wrong, but the group I worked with kinda went "ah well guess we had to be done sometime" after there wasn't a place to upload, some of our chapters were even done and just stuck on imgur. I can't help but imagine the same happened for some other small groups.
