No idea if everyone else is going along or just being quiet about it.

It's being enforced in Ottawa. And most of the time, in my experience at least, the people checking are actually taking their time to read the vaccine receipt and compare it to my ID.

It's curious that at this point the regions getting "pounded" are always the ones filled with morons. Oh well, there's probably nothing to be learned from that.

Places are being named and shamed at least. Everyone at Thanksgiving dinner was talking about how they’re never going to Rolly’s again. I’ve never been there but I doubt they’ll exist much longer.

Not to be all "but BC is worse" but BC is just as bad as Alberta in many ways. An infant died of covid in BC in April and Henry immediately mentioned that the child had underlying conditions when the death was announced. But no one seemed to care? Then there's poo poo like this: https://twitter.com/NoLore/status/1445935711958491136?t=6cMMQgE2UPzD_VKa7Xrx4g&s=19 https://twitter.com/brish_ti/status/1443289035284238336?t=BX-KJ1jxK-8889vjrLuCrQ&s=19 And ostensibly trying to hide many cases and 12 deaths (as of now) in a single LTC. https://twitter.com/realreporter/status/1448831673433350153?t=cBEZlRYTE2WjJ9V9YIr67A&s=19 So why does BC get a pass for it's poo poo show?

Biggest potential impact Ive read about is loss of access to healthcare as services will only be provided in French and basic English (but only if you can prove some weird qualification). Could be bad, no way to tell yet though. Id be more concerned about the potential economic impact for every Quebec resident. The bill in its current form incentivizes companies with offices of more than 25 employees to basically move base of operations to outside the province and just run small offices for coordination. Could be huge job losses, not to mention the brain drain that comes with that kind of shift.

People in Ontario can start downloading their enhanced vaccine certificates. Those born in January - April can get it today. May - August tomorrow and September - December on Sunday. It’s just another PDF file you can save to your phone but apparently if you have an iPhone view it on your desktop you can scan it with the camera app to add the certificate to the Health app. I haven’t tried that yet though.

I feel like this is the beginning of a nightmare scenario where Ontario Libs somehow are able to ram through ranked ballots, and the public conversation across the country around "electoral reform" shifts from being about PR vs FPTP to instead being about Ranked Ballots vs FPTP (a win/win situation for the Liberals). Accordingly the entire "electoral reform" activist movement is extinguished for a generation (or forever) as Canadians are told that ranked ballots are "better than nothing" and the Fed Libs finally successfully implement Ranked Ballots and bring about a return of alternating Red/Blue Majorities instead of the permanent minority governments that we've been trending toward. https://twitter.com/robertbenzie/status/1449086957578067972

There is a court case between the NB Government and various First Nation groups, between what is tribal land and what isn't. Officially saying that all the land is not NB's but is "unceded" or "unsurrendered" is basically giving up any claim. quote:"As you may be aware, the Government of New Brunswick (GNB) is currently involved in a number of legal actions which have been initiated by certain First Nations against the province, including a claim to ownership and title to over 60% of the Province," read Flemming's leaked memo, which was later verified by a provincial spokesperson. So litigation tactic, not as bad as not acknowledging the first nations land, but still..

"Unceded" has a very specific meaning in the context of First Nations who had land taken away without even the window dressing of a treaty, whcih apparently was the case in New Brunswick.

Well I wouldn't know what standing NB has on their land, and what was stolen or what was given up via treaty. At the very least it isn't NB being racist just because.

Should be noted the guy grew up in Montreal so him leaving is certainly not for lack of trying. Obviously some people will get along fine being English in Montreal, but there's a real problem going on there. Next week's "Castle Superbeast" podcast on Twitch will probably be pretty heavy on the details of this event and everything leading up to their decision. I've been of the impression that Quebec seceding is not a serious risk for a long time now. But maybe that's not quite the case anymore given that people are more inclined to embrace full-stupid these days.
