I dabbled with it but because it was in thr same room as my PC at the time I didn't get very far. The apps are there of the play store for both steam link and moonlight and I paired both an XSX and 8bitdo controller just fine. Probably going to work best on wired Ethernet but I can't remember if I actually played much using it.

Technically 40gbps but glad to hear it works, I find it hilarious that a $400 Costco receiver is more capable than their $5000 processor.

Ah, I’m not super versed in the speed differences. The new Denon is definitely quieter than my 11 year old but more powerful Denon. The one weird thing is that while switching my TiVo Edge (I know, I know) to HDR mode fixed the brightness problem (it was dim, especially compared to my 2021 AppleTV output), whenever you skip commercials you get a noticeable black frame pause. Like you think the TV went off and then pop there it all is again.

Otherwise the TV is flipping beautiful. Picture quality especially off the ATV (1Gb down cable modem internet) with a good stream is just incredible.

Just bought my first 4K tv, picking up a 48" LG C1 from Best Buy tomorrow. Pretty jazzed, I just upgraded my PC with a 3080ti so I really can't wait to see what this 4k HDR stuff is all about.

Let's talk about where you're going.
I'm officially at the point where I think I need to get an HDMI splitter. Can any of you recommend one that is at least 4in/1out and has ARC support built in? I don't have a fancy setup - just a bunch of disparate gaming systems, a Raspberry PI with KODI for Plex and a soundbar attached to the TV. I need ARC support because I only have 1 ARC HDMI port on the TV.

I have to assume the apps built into these LG's are the ideal way to watch 4K content on a streaming service like netflix, right? Like I'm not going to get a better picture if I hook up an apple tv 4K to an HDMI port and watch Netflix through that? This TV is loving insane I just want to make sure I'm getting the best picture I can outside of like a blu-ray.

AVR receiver. There may be splitters that support ARC, I dunno, but what you want is an AVR. And you dont need something with more channels than satellite TV or tons of power, repurpose the soundbar elsewhere and get a nice lil set of bookshelf speakers to go with it even.

The apps on smart TVs themselves are notoriously slow, poorly supported, and full of security holes even on high end models. The best options for streaming apps are the apple tv 4k or nvidia shield tv pro, but even a $30 chromecast or anything else will be better than the built in apps on the TV.

Unless you need the increased local storage or are trying to use the Shield TV as a Plex server, the normal version is completely fine, no reason to fork out the extra $50.

For streaming services, Unless you have a soundbar, you will get better sound from built in apps. Also Dolby Vision.

A receiver is way more than I need for my use-case. I'm looking to spend less than $100, don't want to buy new speakers, and like my soundbar. I'll just check on Amazon or whatever.

Leave the sound bar connected to the ARC port and then use any standard HDMI switch plugged in to a different port? I'm not understanding the problem here unless you're hard set on only having your devices plugged in to a single port.

Right now I have an old HDMI 1.2 era receiver so I have my 1080p sources connected to it and the 4K sources plug directly in to my TV.

The soundbar doesn't have an HDMI input - just 1/8" analog and TOSLINK optical. I only have 1 ARC input port to the TV, so I need to connect the switch to the ARC input to get delay-free audio out to the soundbar. I need a switch with ARC support for all inputs to the output.

According to someone on AVS it only exists because Denon signed a deal with Costco years ago that had some huge penalty fees if they didn't ship in time so they had to prioritize this cheap model over the whole rest of their lineup.

I ended up grabbing one of the Denon s760h receivers from Costco as well last week, to pair with my 77 LG CX. It replaced an s730h that I picked up back in 2018 when I got a 65" 4k Vizio. It kinda helped me justify getting a new one so I could use the s730h downstairs with the old tv.

No issues at all with the s760h, working great with ps5 and 3080ti pc.

Best Buy has the 75" TCL 5 Series TVs for $999 right now, I'm debating pulling the trigger on it. I don't particularly care about having 2.1 as I have a CX for gaming, movies and sports games for teams I like. The room doesn't get particularly bright and will be primarily be used for regular old TV, some sports and what have you. I currently have a 65" Vizio P-Series P652UI-B2 I got in mid 2015. While its been a reliable TV its starting to show its age with some fading along the top of the screen. Wondering if I would notice the drop to 60hz vs 120 but for what I'm doing I don't think I particularly would?

If the soundbar doesn't have HDMI input then I'm not sure why ARC is relevant at all.

Assuming you're meaning to say your soundbar doesn't have a built in HDMI switch and only has the HDMI interface for ARC, that's still not a problem.

Say your TV's ARC port is number 1. Plug the soundbar in to that, then plug a normal HDMI switch in to port 2 and plug whatever you want in to that. The TV should handle looping the audio back out the ARC port.

Yeah, if the TV is outputting audio via optical to your soundbar it would do so for every HDMI input on the TV.

Got my X90J unboxed and set up over the weekend, and re-did the cable management on my TV stand as well. Due to the I/O on the TV being on the opposite side as my old TV, the HDMI ARC cable I had been using (an old Monster cable hand-me-down from my dad, circa 2008) wouldn’t reach any more without dangling it across the stand. I had a spare 10 foot Amazon Basics HDMI cable I’d purchased in 2017 that purported to be high speed 18 Gbps, which I used to wire the ARC from my TV to the AVR - however, once I started playing PS4 games (passing video through the AVR), I kept having frequent picture dropouts for 2-3 seconds.

Despite the Amazon page listing the 10 foot Basics cable as ‘high speed 18 Gbps’, I’m thinking it either can’t actually reach the full 18 Gbps, or was an older 10.2 Gbps high speed cable that got mislabeled on the store page. In any case, I hooked the Monster cable back up, and it worked like a charm again (but this won’t be a permanent solution as it’s not long enough to fit any cable routing paths on my stand).

After looking into it further, I can’t confirm the model number but I *think* this is a MC1000 Monster Cable, which they claim to be an ‘ultra high speed’ cable at 17.8 Gbps (despite coming out nearly a decade before the actual ‘Ultra High Speed’ 48 Gbps spec designation]. That said, apparently their speed rating isn’t complete bullshit and is actually good enough for full HDMI 2.0 usage.

I’m ordering a Monoprice 10’ 48 Gbps HDMI 2.1 cable off Amazon to finish wiring my new setup, but I thought it was funny that Monster’s indulgent spec-chasing marketing actually proved useful (albeit only years after the fact).

Cable buying these days is so precarious. So much marketing jargon thats largely false, or outright lies in the specs. A lot of people hold MP dearly but I think back to my foray with them buying micro USB cables, I bought a few of these 10 or 15' ones that were just trash that broke almost instantly. Now if you bought the "premium" ones, those were gold. I still have one that someone gave me with an old n4 I bought off them.

Lately I bought a few USBC-HDMI adapters/hubs off amazon. The straight up converter works alright, the hub that also has VGA and USB just died on its second use, and the listing was totally removed from amazon. loving amazing to me how big that loving site has gotten given a) the site itself is garbage to use and filtering and categorization is a complete crapshoot and b) theres hardly any advantage at all to buying brand name things, so most of what you buy on there is just no name sketchy trash anyway.

Best Buy is doing their black Friday deals already I guess, the TCL 65R646S is $1000, $300 off. So I'm back to considering this TV. Also either there's a sale on their 5 year Geek Squad coverage, or it's way lower for this price tier and the 5 year plan is $210. Warranty says it covers normal wear and tear, if this has to be replaced years down the road do they give you a credit or an equivalent model or? I'm just trying to find specifics about this. I see in the reviews people saying they replaced their 4 year old TV, but I'm just kind of assuming the worst and wondering if they would give you like a 5 series instead for example.

Monoprice cables are garbage. I use the warranty on the lightning cables twice a year. i was further let down when i thought buying a more expensive lightning cable would last longer. NOPE

I bought a thunderbolt cable through work that did not work at all, jokes on me for throwing away the packing slip because they did not accept the PO number for the order number.

My current TV is a 10 year old, 40" midrange Sony, so even the Hisense looks like it'll be a massive improvement. It's just hard to imagine the LG C1 is worth 2.5x the cost, especially with my viewing habits.

Some points in the C1's favor are that paying $1000 once per decade for a much better quality version of something you use regularly seems like a pretty good value, and the C1 would have obviously and immediately better picture quality even to a layperson. It also has more bells and whistles, and the proportion of media you view that is 4k should increase over the next decade. The 65" C1 is sub 2k at both costco and best buy right now. A pretty personal question overall - ultimately only you can determine what's the best value for you, and they are both excellent TVs. Maybe ask yourself, what would the extra 1k or your pocket mean to you vs the risk of OLED FOMO?
