It's basically because it's now 1 pick voting and the voting result is 50% from Korean votes and 50% from international votes, and the few Korean fans actually watching the show have mostly been voting for Korean trainees. The internationals did well in previous rounds because the Korean fans still had to vote for a Chinese and Japanese trainee but now they don't. International fans were voting for K trainees as well because they assumed someone like Xiao Ting was safe so she ended up going from 1 and 2 the whole time to 16th. Su Ruiqi is there because she never had much Korean support anyway and it sounds like she's the Chinese fan favourite. Of course, all this assumes that what Mnet posted is legitimate and not made up just to create more interest in the live broadcast.

I think they'd actually get a "global" group if they let people pick 3 or more of their favorites regardless of nationality rather than one-pick. There was a mission where everyone just voted for 9 trainees, and while we don't know if Mnet made changes to the resulting teams, it looked like it was decided by overall votes and made a 4K/3J/2C lineup for the top third team. It'll be interesting to see how or if they change the weighting or process on the final live vote, and that's assuming they even want to steer the votes to a more "balanced" lineup.

I feel like Mnet is probably panicking as much as some of the viewers are, tbh. They didn't show the rest of the ranks when they did an interim ranking before the finale on seasons of Produce, iirc, and to have 8K/1C (and for that 1C to be Su Ruiqi instead of Shen Xiaoting lmao) be the interim top 9 is nuts. Lots of people expected votes to weigh more heavily K at 1 pick, but not this heavily. I feel like a lot of people also assumed some of the really popular C and J girls were safe and spent their votes elsewhere. A majority Korean group was always inevitable, but the entire concept of this show is to make an international group from the three participating countries. To not have 2/3 each of the C and J girls would be insane. If Mnet was after a group with a similar ratio to any other kpop group currently promoting, they would have pooled from trainees living in Korea only imo. You would still get 1 or 2 foreigners doing that. Hopefully it will be a lesson learned, should they decide to continue with this 3 country format going forward. It really should have been either 1 pick from each country for the finale vote, a 3 pick from any country, or a ranked 9 imo. It will be the twist of the century if Shen Xiaoting doesn't end up in the lineup after being ranked 1 and 2 all season long lmfao. I expected her to drop, but not out of the top 9-- and definitely not to the bottom 3 of the entire group of remaining trainees.

Not aoty for me, but I think its the best stuff she's put out post-2ne1. In terms of what I expected though its way better, the other stuff she's done sort of left me with low expectations, and everything on the album falls into the 'decent to good' range for me. Nothing on it I would skip, but nothing grabbed my ears and forced me to just throw that poo poo on again.

A big issue I think is she worked really well in a group with other people to play off of, so I think she is hampered by being solo. It'll be interesting to see whats on her album though. Also yg seems to still be trying to figure out how to be a label that is larger than just teddy, but it does seem like he works on everything still and for Somi I think that is a detriment.

At least Somi's album is half and half, DKB put out a full length album in the spring that was 3 new songs and 7 songs from last year's mini albums. I love it, It's still my favorite album this year but man, I can't call it my album of the year when I was already loving those songs last year.
