Instead of a Share button make an Antishare button that deletes other people's videos and screenshots when you press it.

ive been considering getting the split pad pro. i currently use the satisfye grip. i'd love to hear from folks that have used both

i gather that i'd lose motion controls, which is annoying for mario odyssey but i otherwise don't care about. any other losses? does the split pad pro have drift issues? better dpad/buttons?

i recently put the little satisfye stick cover thingies on my joycons and very much like them

I can't tell if this is snark, I noticed I can pop the battery on the XB1 controller as well (but its a little trickier) - so I think I was running into other quirks that made me just switch to using it with a USB cord. Like, it just amounted to however I had the thing set up, using it wirelessly was a bigger hassle then it was for my 360 controller with that old wireless dongle.

These days I'm using my Pro controller through a USB cord because setting that up to work wirelessly with my PC was also a headache, from what I remember when I tried. (Since I'd basically have to unpair it with my Switch to use with the PC or something.)

It was, but I'm not trying to be a dick. Holding down the xbox button for a few seconds, or leaving it idle for like 5 minutes will turn it off. Maybe your bluetooth adapter is hosed up though idk.

Or better yet, maybe make the share functions come up when you hit a combination of buttons. It would still be instantly accessible but frees up the SHARE button for context specific uses like a classic select button

Kind of like how Android makes you hold two buttons together to take a screenshot, works pretty great and you never accidentally trigger it

it didnt get rid of select/back on any console. on switch u have minus, on xbox the whatever symbol button it is, and on ps its the touchpad. how do you accidentally trigger a dedicated hardware button. you have hands of a crab.

nintendo used forbidden technology to add a screenshot/clip button without removing any other buttons.

i think start and select are FINE but i can understand the drive to move away from them.
"options" is a terrible replacement though. it's a longer word that's possibly accurate even less of the time.
"back" was ok. xbox icons are whatever but the buttons should have fuckin names. do they? i only ever see the icon in the UI.
+ and – seem like perfectly sensible replacements to me.

oh yeah and the ds4 touchpad was dumb. theoretically useful but most games just used it as one or two big buttons. and when it was two i swear it would get the wrong one half the time even though my press was not at all in the middle. and trying to use it as a mouse sucked too, at least when i tried using it to type on the OS keyboard, or when I played FFXIV with a controller for like a couple days before i switched to mouse and keyboard.

What do?

Nintendo has a support page with the step-by-step process. tl;dr: download the island transfer app from the eshop on the old Switch, then system transfer, then download/update AC and get the island transfer app on the new Switch, then open the transfer app on both to run the transfer. But, what tripped me up when I did this a few days ago was that you will need to re-login to your old Switch after the system transfer (or have an alternate Nintendo account still logged in), as the island transfer app wants to authenticate with the eshop before launching despite being a free app.

I'm here to pitch the enigmatis hidden adventure game series on Nintendo switch, these are super well made very elaborate very bizarre pulp novels / adventure murder mystery cult stories
You can appreciate them ironically unironically but they're very well polished and they're extremely stupid and they're very fun

https://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/enigmatis-2-the-mists-of-ravenwood-switch/
I've been playing this one on my switch the last 2 years I often goes on sale for under two dollars.

I don't know what's going on the first one but I know in the second one a giant mist Crow steals a girl from her family and destroys their car and escapes into an adventure Park that seems to be stuck in time.

You tell the amusement parks evil Willy Wonka Mr Burns villain that there's been a crow attack of occult proportions and he is not stunned but he's going to go get his cell phone they left inside his giant spire mansion.

He hands you a free gondola ride ticket and says "Wait around the Park's about to open I'll go call the cops just wait here"

About 5 minutes later I broke it into the snack shop and found barrels full of corpses in it's basement and a calm prisoner who's bereft of information and is trapped behind a bizarre labyrinthian puzzle door

The problem is doesn’t doing the system transfer wipe the account from the old switch? I don’t want to re-associate the old switch with my account just to do that, right? Cus I’m planning on selling it.

I don't have a Satisfye but the Split Pad Pro sticks and buttons are pretty good. They're large and spaced out, which is my main issue with the joycons that they're cramped.

You lose rumble and maybe gyro, although some games (Quake) correctly use the gyro in the Switch itself so that still works. Obviously you can only use it handheld. You also can't remap buttons on the Split Pad Pro, which maybe is not so obvious of a limitation. You can assign a button to the back paddle though.

I have both and I like the larger sticks on the split pad pro but I miss rumble and it does make the device significantly larger. Also no Ambiio support.

I also dont care for how hallow the split pad feels. It kinda feels cheap in a weird way?

It’s super comfortable to play with but it makes the device much less portable.

Maybe buy the split pad off Amazon so you can return it.

There is another third party one that is roughly the same price as the split pad and has rumble.

I'm not sure what to make of the Binboks. When they first came out reviews said they had a garbage dpad, so that was out for me. I guess there's a new revision that addresses that? Also it looks like you have to charge both halves over USB-C--so they don't charge when docked?

Beyond that the main benefit of them is rumble, but I don't miss that so much. I'd also guess they support button remapping.

If they were definitively better than the Split Pad Pro I'd probably pick them up but it's not entirely clear to me that they are.

Just finished Dread. Took 7 hours. Quick review would be fantastic controls, graphics and music, really fun to play. The "story" if it even counts sucks (one cut scene before the final boss?), this is my first Metroid so every time ADAM kept talking about THE X and METROIDS it sounded really lame.

Very good game, absolutely not worth 60 bux and I'd put Hollow Knight and Shadow Complex above it.

I've been looking for Joycon alternatives since I got an OLED recently and apparently the Binboks will charge off the console like regular Joycons, the port is mostly for firmware updates.
I've also seen people saying that there was a revision done in the summer to fix the dpad, but you could also take it apart and remove some stickers they put under the pad for some reason.
