My experiences with round 3 were the exact same as r2 (sore arm, a little more than the first, virtually all but gone the following evening).

Well, some combo of the Pfizer booster, flu shot, or the fact that I had them on the same day hosed my poo poo UP this week. Fever and chills and body aches for three full days and a lot of general malaise the last two. Holy hell.

Anyway it's way, way better than actually getting sick with either of those things. One billion times better than getting intubated.

Yeah I don’t care if they’re approved for same-day administration now, the coronavirus vaccine alone is quite enough, thank you doc.

Yes. The Pfizer booster is exactly the same dose as the original shots.

I think the Moderna booster is a half-dose. That's what both Moderna and the FDA recommend, but I can't find solid details on the implementation.

As of right now, it doesn't appear that any of the major US pharmacy chains (well, I haven't checked Wal-Mart) have updated their websites to allow for mix-and-match boosters.

I got a Moderna booster today and the guy remarked that it was a really small dose.

Hopefully next year's booster 2 or later will be something updated a good sterilizing rate to help break the reinfecton rate.

As I understand it sterilising immunity is a very big ask because the virus infects (and is primarily spread from) the upper respiratory tract. That is it can have created billions of copies to be machine-gunned out by your normal breathing before your immune system ever sees it.

I was under the impression that this is a big reason a) why all of the initial trials had it as a "nice to have" metric and instead concentrated on the vaccine's ability to prevent serious illness and b) how asymptomatic and presymptomatic spread occurs - it goes directly from the air (well a water droplet) into a cell in your nose or lungs and the first thing your immune system knows about it is when the cell(s) it infects die.

Of course by preventing symptoms and vastly speeding up the immune response s vaccine still helps reduce the amount of virus you spew out - the infection may only be present for a few days rather than a week or more, and because you're not coughing or sneezing (or even breathing more heavily - just fever on its own increases your respiratory rate because of course you're burning more energy to keep the temperature higher) so you don't spread the virus as far, so even a completely non-sterilising vaccine does help reduce transmission rates considerably.

I thought it seemed like a great idea to get it the gently caress over with! One less trip to CVS during a pandemic, yay.

Oops.

Anyway, hopefully by the time I need another booster it won't be flu season so moot point.

They swear that they could not have possibly been responsible for Covid, but they did not think that this information would have been relevant or helpful for medical science until now. I went to the pharmacy and injected myself with a whole box of pfizer boosters, the pharmacist tried to get me to stop but I gave a speech about individual liberties and everyone in line started clapping and the pharmacist was crying and said "sir, I was wrong" so I open palm slammed like 6 syringes at a time until the whole box was done and I have gained super-immunity to covid. The side effect is that I am now a mobile wifi hotspot, if you ever see a SSID named BEEF DOGS that's me somewhere outside your house probably going through your trash cans like a wifi-emitting raccoon

I'm going to risk both. I've never had any reaction from the flu vaccine, not even a sore arm. Seems better to just get both at once, and it's one fewer trip to the pharmacy (I live in chudland, where everyone hates vaccines and nobody has been wearing masks since like last August).

My gf (who I live with) got Covid but I dodged it somehow. We’re both vaxxed so I’m sure that helped, but so were the four people she hung out with where she got it. Thankfully her symptoms were mild, a few days of a cough and feeling not great along with two days of no taste or smell, again probably thanks vaccine.

Arm is pretty sore and energy low but moving arm around more helps this time around…

I think one of the major things that convinced me to get the booster now is the unpredictability of people and events in general.

The other night I went to a book signing/reading event and even though it said “masks on when not eating or drinking” literally 95% of people there were not wearing one at all. No vaccinated requirements or anything, only a “recommended Covid test.” No one seemed interested in enforcing either it despite there being a mask mandate right now. My bf and I sat there for 10 minutes before deciding to leave. We told them we felt uncomfortable and they were like 🤷. I just went to a movie premiere last week where they checked everyone’s vaxx card and masks were still required. Sorry, but I cannot respect people who do not try at all.

Tried to ask for a refund but so far they’re just ignoring me on social media.

Perpetually a Pain.
Whenever I've had people try to get me to throw away my n95 for a surgical mask in the last year or so, I've always managed to talk them down to putting a surgical mask on overtop of the n95.

I suppose there are some theoretically good reasons for them asking, but said double-masking solves those issues, so it works out in the end (the one I had some trouble with was a volunteer at a vaccine injection site, who was clearly going off an ingrained script more than personal knowledge, but what was clearly an actual nurse working nearby told her it was okay, so it worked out there, too).

So my wife's neurologist, who is world class,.not even kidding, told her to 'go for it!' in regards to going to Florida over Christmas. We'll have had our third shot by then, and she promised to wear her p100 respirator.

She really wants to do things before she loses any more functionality to MS. We've still got her second Neurologist at Stanford to get an opinion from,.as well as her third neurologist at UCSF.

Thinking about sneakily getting a second kind of vaccine too.
