PFL Championships are tonight! Before we even get to that action, we've got some prelims! Don Madge, 2 years removed from a two-fight UFC win streak makes his PFL debut as he takes on Nathan Williams. Julia Budd faces Kaitlin Young at the bastion of depth that is women's lightweight Omari Akhmedov, a 9-year UFC veteran faces former Bellator decent fighter, Jordan Young Lightweight Title Bout Loik Radzhabov vs Raush Manfio Loik went 1-1 in the 2021 PFL regular season, dropping a split decision to Alex Martinez, but picking up a 27-second KO over Akhmed Aliev to punch his ticket to the playoffs. He got his revenge on Martinez, beating Alex via unanimous decision to earn his chance for ONE MILLION US AMERICAN DOLLARS Raush's regular season was cleaner, going 2-0, but he only has decision wins. He took a splitter against Joilton Lutterbach at PFL 1, and then bested Anthony Pettis via the same route at PFL 6. In the playoffs, Raush took a unanimous decision over sentimental favorite Clay Collard to reach the finals. Light Heavyweight Title Bout Antonio Carlos Junior vs Marthin Hamlet Shoeface! Faceshoe! Toni Carl's Junior went 1-0-1 in the PFL regular season, choking out Tom Lawlor at PFL 2, before having his bout with Vinny Magalhaes end in a No Contest due to accidental groin strikes. Shoeface made it into the 2021 playoffs and beat Emiliano Sordi via decision in August to reach the finals. Hamlet's regular season was 1-1, submitting Dan Spohn at PFL 2 in the second round, but getting choked by Cory Hendricks at PFL 5. In the playoffs, Hamlet was the beneficiary of Cezar Mutante's leg injury in 13 seconds of the first round to advance to the finals. MAIN CARD! Featherweight Title Bout Movlid Khaybulaev vs Chris Wade Movlid went 2-0 in the regular season, taking out Lazar Stojadinovic and Lance Palmer, both by unanimous decisions. In the semi-finals, Movlid got the split decision nod over Brendan Loughnane. So on one side, he helped keep Palmer away from the title, but on the other, he kept Loughnane out of the finals, and I really wanted Loughnane to win the million bucks as compensation for not getting signed because he shot a takedown on Dana White's Bullshit Vanity Project. Chris Wade also went 2-0 in 2021, taking out Anthony Dizy via unanimous decision, then knocking out Arman Ospanov in round 2 back in June. In the playoffs, Wade beat Bubba Jenkins via decision to get to the finals. Heavyweight Title Bout Bruno Cappelozza vs Ante Delija Bruno has been a machine of death in PFL in 2021. He got 2 first round finishes, taking out Ante Delija in 46 seconds and then beating Mo DeReese in 2:21. In the playoffs, Bruno put down Jamelle Jones with ground and pound in round 2 to arrive here at the finals. Ante went 1-1 in the regular season. As mentioned above, he lost to Bruno in 46 seconds of round 1 at PFL 3. His next time out, Ante beat Chandler Cole via GnP in round 1. In the semi-finals, Ante bested Denis Goltsov via decision. Oh poo poo, we got a Women's Lightweight Special Attraction fight! Claressa Shields is taking time away from saying dumb and horrible things on twitter to face Abby Montes, who is 2-0. Welterweight Title Bout Magomed Magomedkerimov vs Ray Cooper III Magomed only had 1 fight in the 2021 PFL regular season, having to withdraw from the first welterweight event. He submitted Curtis Millender via 1st round Ezekiel choke at PFL 5 to reach the playoffs. He then took out Sadibou Sy via decision to reach the finals. Cooper won both his regular season fights, TKO'ing David Michaud with GnP in round 2, and submitting Jason Ponet in round 1. In the semi-finals, Cooper outlasted Rory MacDonald to take the decision. These two have a history, with Magomed beating Cooper in 2018, and the scheduled rematch in 2019 getting canceled after Magomed suffered an illness. Women's Lightweight Title Bout Kayla Harrison vs Taylor Guardado Harrison is 2-0 in regular season contests, with a GnP finish over Mariana Morais in round one, and an armbar over Cindy Dandois, also in round one. Genah Fabian fell to Harrison in the playoffs, also in round one, to GnP. Harrison has 4 contests that have gone past the 1st round, 2 of them being decision wins over Larissa Pacheco. Fun facts! Guardado went 2-0 in the regular season as well, but both of her wins were via decision. In the semi-finals, she took a split decision over Mariana Morais to face Harrison. Another fun fact: Guardado lost to Ronda Rousey on the amateur circut.
