Did today's challengers ever look at a map before? 7000 miles east of Sydney is this capital and they chose Wellington (a capital but not that far away) and QUEENSLAND?! The latter one has to be one of the dumbest Final responses I've ever seen.

Maybe she thought 7000 miles was enough to circle the globe :xd:

some people do not know anything about maps, no. although i would like a glimpse at how they ended up with a state and not a city, yes lol

e: i play a *lot* of trivia, and geography absolutely mystifies me. i memorized all the world capitals and flags and major cities and stuff to try to compete from a list-learning angle because the way maps look just does not make sense or stick in my brain.

i did have this FJ though :smuggo:

You can even kind of see how they constructed it from the answer. My thought process was "7000 miles is about 1/3 of the way around the globe. That's South America. Santiago, Buenos Aires, and Montevideo are all at roughly the same latitude as Sydney, poo poo, which one? Ah, "near the Pacific", so it has to be Chile. Peru is too far north, and there's gently caress all in the Pacific off South America."

of a full load.

That one daily double that the middle guy got wrong yesterday seemed horribly worded. I was still trying to parse the question when he ran out of time.

The category was 2 WORDS, 2 SYLLABLES EACH
Something along the lines of "meaning easy to talk to, this phrase starts with the plural and ends with the singular".
People Person

I also didn't get the final. I knew it was the lunar lander, but I couldn't think of the singular word.

I totally agree about that DD. Didn’t even come close. I can see what they were going for but uhhh.

I got it easily, but I agree the wording was a little clunky.

There was one clue in the last 3 games (just watched them all at once last night from cloud DVR so I can't keep track of which game it was) in some science category that was really poorly worded as well.

What really bugs me during daily doubles is when Biyalik doesn’t prompt for an answer when a contestant is struggling. I liked how Alex would prompt for a WAG at the very least before running out the time on it.

I mean yeah, there's also that. But even her horrible personal opinions on virtually everything aside, she's just not a good host. She's certainly better than she was, but that bar was so low it was pretty much on the ground, and the longer she hosts the more annoyed I'm getting with it.

We just haven’t watched jeopardy since the mike Richards thing , and given this probably won’t until they have Ken back.

My dumb Bialik complaint is when she has to provide the answer for a triple stumper, she doesn't phrase it in the form of a question herself. :colbert: This annoys me way more than it probably should.

Given she went to UCLA, I wouldn't expect Trojan anything on the show as long as she hosts. Wardrobe is a non-issue for me.

My guess is Sony now knows how much of a audience they've lost if any by hiring her. If the result is negligible then she's staying. Ken will only be used as host if she has a conflict and those will end when her show does.

So it turns out Aaron Rodgers lied about being vaccinated - he said he was "immunized" to the media and hadn't been following the unvaccinated protocols so the assumption was he was vaccinated (he just tested positive for COVID). He also tried to get the NFL to accept some homeopathic treatment he received as the same as being vaccinated.

Shoulda just picked Ken guys!

At this point, who has a legitimate reason to not be vaccinated? Only ones I can think of is immune compromised or if you’re under 12 (soon to be 5).
This is the type of quackery that killed Steve Jobs but this disease has killed 713 THOUSAND people in the US alone and 29K in Canada

immunocompromise is not a contraindication to vaccination; in fact, the more immunocompromised you are, the more strongly recommended vaccination would be since you would be a lot more likely to die from covid if you got it

the only contraindication is if youve had an anaphylactic reaction (e.g. would've died without immediate medical attention, not an "allergic reaction") to the first dose, then you shouldn't get the second dose (and should get a j&j dose instead)

Apparently some of the examples my job gave for seeking a “reasonable accommodation” to get out of NYC’s employee vaccination mandate were if you had recently had a Covid treatment of monoclonal antibodies or convalescent plasma within the past 90 days, are currently recovering from/in the isolation period post Covid infection, or have such a weak immune system that you’re unable to mount an antibody response to the vaccine.

Rodgers appears to be none of these, though I guess depending on what treatment he gets for Covid and whether the NFL takes his excuses, he could set his deadline back a couple months, I dunno. Still a major fuckup on his part.
