there's been a big push in US media lately to portray billionaires are cool adventurers and your friends, and it's been sort of successful. Musk and Bezos have gotten fawning coverage over their "Space race." i was looking at a rural local news site for an impoverished area and one of the top stories was sympathetic coverage of how billionaires were concerned that a tax on billionaires would hurt the economy.

I've been listening to the Kill James Bond podcast at work and have been seriously considering writing a treatment of a near-futire Dr No where a mysterious billionaire has hired spectre to crash NASA rockets to inflate his own space company (as retribution for tax hikes).

To be fair Pakistanis tend to be among the more poorer ethnic groups in the country, although also probably one of the most economically stratified. You can see the same class divisions in the Sikh community too and probably the Chinese one as well

nomadland seems absolutely schizophrenic because it feels like it set out to present a good, noble face of the libertarian(ish) freedom of American workers but the movie is about people living in their loving cars at the whim of global capital so it’s hard to take the movie’s message at face value

I don’t know where everyone’s getting these “Amazon/capitalism is awesome!” messages from Nomadland. I thought it was obvious that the main character was incredibly psychologically damaged and traumatized by the loss of her husband and her old job and the financial crisis. She’s nomadic and lives hand to mouth (dependent on her van and the indulgence of her relatives) because she doesn’t know who she is anymore and misses an old life she can never get back. The other people she meet are also lost and also often sick or dying. No one should want to be her.

It might not be an overtly communist movie, but it’s definitely not neoliberal propaganda either.

The month after Eternals is a Spider-Man movie where he fights the bad guys from the Garfield and Maguire movies. There will probably be Garfield and Maguire Spider-Man too. The fanservice will be so overloaded and everyone will forget about Eternals because Alfred Molina is back.

I agree with this, it's fundamentally a character study of a broken person. For most viewers, I expect how interesting you find the movie is largely based on how interesting you find the character in question. (I did not find it particularly interesting, I think the whole thing was wildly overrated though the way the film straddles movie and documentary was kind of neat.)

That said, there's really no defending the way Amazon is depicted. I can think of three things we're told about working at an Amazon warehouse through the text of the movie: 1) The money's good, 2) The job is flexible and there when you need it most, and 3) Amazon really cares about your safety. All three of these statements are blatant lies, so the Amazon-related scenes are pretty hard to ignore even if they make up a tiny fraction of the movie.
