Maybe it becomes safe sooner? it looks like you get tired by the 9th or 10th house, and that's why people don't end up with poison apples. any trip shorter that includes a poison apple house automatically resolves to 0 points. more to the point, anything AFTER you get tired doesn't count for the sake of points or dying.

actually, thinking about it, there's probably a distance traveled maximum that gets involved and determines when you get tired. not hard to test that theory either 1,18,5,20,10,8,13,4,19,2
