If you really eschew things like "internet" and "electricity" and "human interaction" and "reliable access to food and water" I don't see why you shouldn't be allowed to live in a cabin in the woods if you want to

i do a lot of work with historical imagery for various geologic project assessments and stuff, even just aerial imagery from like 1932 to now is insane. we've pretty much just wiped clean massive swaths of.... everything, sans a few half blocks we fence up and call a park.

I remember reading his blog and he always had a weird overzealous hatred of tattoos and tattooed people and would bring it up way more than was actually relevant. Always felt like that was a classic conservative boomer calling card so none of that above is surprising, though it is funny how he can't accept that nobody wants to pay to listen to an old man complain and blames free online content. Somebody should tell him how much the cumtown boys make.

just heard the belize ambassador to the UN on NPR He seemed a little frantic about COPE26 being "our last chance to survive" because we have to limit to 1.5c with 50% reductions by 2030 "to have a fighting chance" because 2 or 3 degrees is so bad we won't survive. The anchor said "But you do bring us some good news" that good news is that they are introducing new proposals at COPE26 to establish an early warning system for the super hurricanes

I saw some dumbass comment in the NYTimes about US carbon emissions going down by 40% since 1970, which is obviously lol, but uh... am I missing something here? they certainly have gone down, at least per capita.

At a guess it's from industries shutting down and moving to other countries which make things to be consumed in the US. Externalise those CO2 emissions, baby!

COP26 is our last chance to get things right, that is until COP27 in Egypt, which will be the final chance to get things right... unless we come up with a plan at COP28 (location TBD, somewhere in Asia) which will be the last chance to get things right.

Is it even worth it to recycle plastic? I've drastically reduced the amount of it I consume either way, drop in the bucket I knowbowser posted:COP26 is our last chance to get things right, that is until COP27 in Egypt, which will be the final chance to get things right... unless we come up with a plan at COP28 (location TBD, somewhere in Asia) which will be the last chance to get things right.

T-Paine posted:Is it even worth it to recycle plastic? I've drastically reduced the amount of it I consume either way, drop in the bucket I know Do you mean, is it worth it in the sense most of it won’t be recycled anyway? Still yes. Do you mean in the broader sense, is there any current scenario where recycling plastic is more economically efficient than making new plastic? No. The value added by recycling some plastic is that the existence of recycling is PR to reduce political pressure to limit the production of new plastic
