Splatoon 2 had two campaigns (one at launch, one DLC one that was really good) and also the Splatoon universe has a lot of ~*~deep lore~*~ to go into. But also I normally am not into competitive shooters but I think Splatoon is a lot of fun so it's worth trying even if it isn't normally your thing IMO

I shouldn't have gotten Neo TWEWY right before SMT V comes out. I only have 9 days left to blitz through a living, breathing, populated Tokyo. After that, I'll get to explore a dead, post-apocalyptic Tokyo.

repiv posted:splatoon 2 has a fun co-op mode but for some reason they only let you play it for certain hours of the day They did that because they stated they were too afraid of queue splitting making it hard to get into any online mode that they restricted the schedule heavily to avoid that. But the playerbase was large enough that it really wasn't an issue and they got a lot more lenient with the schedule later. Hopefully whatever horde mode is in 3 drops the schedule entirely. The co-op mode lead dev wanted to expand on that mode, but the DLC campaign took up so much time and resources there was no time to do that, much to his dismay.

The library of exclusives on this system are amazing and incredibly fun. Currently very excited for the Animal Crossing expansion, Shin Megami Tensei V, and then Splatoon 3. Metroid Dread is one of my top 5 favorite games of 2021 as well. Is N64 emulation extremely bad, because most people on here say it's fine and serviceable

It's pretty bad but in general most people haven't touched an N64 in decades or never have and won't notice the difference. Hopefully patches improve things.

The thing is on the Wii every N64 title they emulated they built a custom emulator specifically for that title. On the WiiU they built one more generic emulator that has patches to run differently on a per game basis, and these are applied at runtime, which contributes to input lag, and makes things overall less accurate. But it's all still extremely close to where only hardcore hobbyists could tell you the difference in most cases. However the other factor is people played N64 on CRTs with wired controllers. And even on the Wii, most people were still playing on a CRT. So the input lag of a wireless Bluetooth controller on an LCD television is going to seem extremely noticeable by comparison. And the natural way CRTs run often make the deficiencies of older games less noticeable as well.
