So there are almost no situations left where teams with cap space will need to save it for some big signing or trade. Almost anyone that gets signed now is gonna be some street free agent who will play for peanuts. So any team high up on waivers with the space should just take him.

It's expensive and only 10 teams have that much space right now, but you're basically bringing in a guy who used to be great and is only 29. And if he does perform he'll be A) happy and B) under contract to you and you can work something out, a pretty good position to be in. Yeah any Saints deal would require you to eat the contract (ala Von Miller's deal), so unless they're giving you a 2nd / 3rd for him, which why would the Saints do that? then it's not worth it.
