Creepy little garbage eaters

Yeah, I rolled my eyes when they said they were doing heat for a third time, but getting Michael Mann in to talk about the film does, for me at least, justify the excess.

The larger point about Simmons dragging down the Rewatchables by allowing it to only focus on movies he likes is a fair one however.

We should start a Relistenables Podcast where we listen back and consider if Bill's second departed pod was his apex mountain.

Chris Ryan, chained to his desk in a room with no windows but 17 posters of 80s Celtics players, is not allowed to eat until he agrees to debate who won Point Break for the 13th time. If he works in an impression of Al Pacino saying "great rear end" at least three times he will also get dessert.

Allison's sister, Olivia, who had recently graduated from college, told Insider that some of her friends were sending Portnoy direct messages attempting to get the mogul's attention but he "wasn't giving them the time of day." Then they realized that her 19-year-old sister, Allison, might be more his type.

"They said: 'You should reach out to him, he likes younger girls.' And he completely took the bait," Olivia said. "He was much more interested in her than any of my 22-year-old friends."

Big Cat is a noted piece of poo poo and PFT's current gig seems to be doing an Alex Jones sports show, so I don't think "sticking with him" is the only reason they stayed

"Tell that to Zod's snapped neck!"

PFT’s still getting shoutouts on ESPN (his tweets show up on the Manningcast) so he’s clearly not persona non grata even if ESPN stopped working with Barstool.

Honestly the fact that Barstool is now just the media arm for a sports betting business makes me think that they’re just gonna keep circling the wagons and play the “he said she said” card. They don’t have to play nice and they’re gonna keep getting money from the Stoolies (what a dumb loving fitting name), especially since Portnoy is legendarily bad at betting. Unless actual criminal charges happen, he’s gonna stick around like a gross boil on the rear end of sports media

He isn't going anywhere. It's their loving brand. If anything, being accused of sexual assault probably increases his worth to the company.

Dexo posted:

If they did they would have cashed a $100 million check from Spotify and not been tied to Barstool being paid in shares of Penn Gaming they can't sell for another half-decade.

What are you talking about lol

They make $80,000 a show, do roughly three shows a week. That's a $12 million annual gig to make fart jokes and do Chris Berman impressions

Penn National is a public company that just released poo poo earnings. Every article about them today is how their core business is slowing and that they employ a rapist. The company is on the back foot and I would say there’s almost no chance that Portnoy isn’t removed. It’s one thing for a private company to keep a sex pest around, it’s another thing when you have shareholders, many of which are institutional

That number is unlikely to be accurate, but it is still chump change for one of the biggest podcasts in the world that targets a valuable demographic. The Call Her Daddy podcast host just signed for $20 million a year with a fraction of the downloads.

Now they're tied to a brand that is about to see advertisers bolt and will be completely dependent on the success of one of the poorer US-based sportsbooks.

Yes, these guys are rich, but they'd be much richer if they had moved on a couple of years ago.

And the leBatard show just got $50m from DraftKings … for distribution! PMT absolutely hosed it up and at the end of the day Barstool sports is a (relatively) small company that was acquired for (relatively) very little money. It would be corporate malpractice to keep this douche around.

Is that better than $7 million in Penn Gaming stock you can't sell for 5 years?

Not only did they miss out on the ridiculous money being thrown at top podcasts, but the biggest advertising sector (sports gambling) is cut off due to their ownership. They're still rich, but their loyalty to Portnoy has cost them tens of millions of dollars if it makes anyone feel better.

I think a big part at first if PFT had complete creative control. I think long term he hurt himself but at the time if he went anywhere else I doubt they would have given him the freedom. I mean, it cost him probably millions now and also his soul but

This is 100% true from what I remember.

Also wasn’t PFTC at SB Nation before the Barstool deal? From what we’ve learned over the past few years, the only job there that’s safe is that of Jon Bois (as he has seniority and is reportedly very tight with several of their execs). I think if he had stayed there he would have been part of the same firings that got the Fullcast crew.
