this forum was chock full of f bombs ten years ago. i personally used it instead of a comma. that said it is really jarring hearing it in music and movies.

Remember when the closest Bieber got to being a rapper was either using "Shawty" too much as a child star or maybe Nicki Minaj appearing on Beauty and a Beat or something like that?

That was nice. Now that he's an "R&B star" he's going to start doing hooks on rap songs. Shoot me now.

I was cheering Busta Rhymes on in that ancient Halloween sequel when it occurred to me: I’ve never actually listened to Busta. He was way before my time (i think?) and tbh I’ve think I’ve oft confused him with twista. Is his solo stuff worth going back to?

thank-you to whoever posted about the new Amerigo, cos it reminded me of this collection of grooves which has extreme sentimental value :]

I'd say busta's first 3 albums are classic. Funny how we didn't see him as classic at the time. I played one tape so much the bass died.

Gimme Some Mo is a classic horror movie sample flip. I just saw Pyscho last week and just kept thinking “…..gimme some mo” whenever the string theme kicked in.

Listen to the albums but honestly also go back and watch the videos. Like I don't want to focus on his videos to take away from the music, but Busta Rhymes *also* had the very best videos in rap up until maybe like... Arab Money?

having a spin through some of his headline tracks and he has some incredible stuff. some of these beats are special, like ODB with the neptunes or 2011 danny brown.

o! my god... I loved that tape yet after undergrad somehow banished it wholesale from my mind. same year as the amerigo gazaway mos def/gaye mashup, I must have played to Vivrant Thing and For the Nasty hundreds of times that summer.

Practice heavy self reflection, avoid self deception
If you lost, get re-direction

And I really wanna know, where you at, at?

I hear you. MBDTF showed up maybe a year or two late for me. I was too deep into Lil B and Gucci and that direction of music to listen to something w clean production and superstars. Like, I was going ham to BLVCKLVND RVDIO 66.6, and MBDTF seemed kinda…. Tame? Compared to what SPG and the kids were doing.

When I listened a couple years ago, it’s like yeah… great production, some great rapping, but it’s like a whole generation removed from what I loved about rap going into 2010 and beyond.
