I'm assuming with new starter sets, other factions will get more unique teams like the first box?

Yeah I think that's why people feel kinda burned on the New Compendium because it's pricy and many of the teams are bland compared to the new boxed guys.

Anyone still playing Underworlds? I'm curious about the state of the game and if it's still annoying to get the good cards from various warbands you don't want to use.

I don't play it, but I'm still keeping an eye on it.
Cards are still spread out in all the boxes, they changed the back of the cards, they made some stupid rule changes, they changed the release schedule to 2 core sets a year, and it's getting to be pretty drat expensive.

Unless you're playing in a sanctioned league or something, just proxy new cards, underworldsdb has a full list.

But yeah, as Hobo said, they made some pretty questionable decisions on the newest box.

I've officially started on my AT journey. Got the Knights and Warhounds done (just need to magnetize the torsos and weapons on the Warhounds). I magnetized the arms of the Knights which was... a mistake. At the cost-per-model per Knights, I'll just glue the arms on in the future and buy some extra Knights if I need them, it's just too much of a pain getting the magnets in on them.

Every faction is (slowly) getting more specialist teams via White Dwarf and the expansion sets. So far it’s been Clave, Tau, Sisters, Thousand Sons, and maybe one or two more.

The “basic” compendium teams can still be both fun to play though, with engaging mechanics and high power level in the meta so far. The Kommandos vs regular Orks, for instance, get a good bit of variety in exchange for an insane amount of wounds to chew through with 10 boys and 1 Nob (plus 3 rockets).

Yeah it's funny that the Space Marines have the most fire teams by far in the book but they're all pretty boring and weak. Death Watch being the only real exception but they're still only like mid-tier (but a lot of fun thanks to all the load out options).

New Kill Team is fun, especially now that they've reined in Custodes a bit so they don't just utterly dominate any game they're in.

New and updated Steel Legion list I'll be taking to a Epic tournament shortly.

REGIMENTAL HQ [525]
Supreme Commander, 12 Infantry, 7 Chimera, Hydra

MECHANISED INFANTRY COMPANY [450]
Commander, 12 Infantry, 7 Chimera, Hydra

INFANTRY COMPANY [250]
Commander, 12 Infantry

STORM TROOPER PLATOON [300]
8 Storm Troopers, Chimera Transport

ROUGH RIDER PLATOON [150]
6 Rough Riders

SENTINEL SQUADRON [100]
4 Sentinels

SUPER-HEAVY TANK PLATOON [200]
Shadowsword

BASILISK BATTERY [225]
3 Basilisks

THUNDERBOLT FIGHTERS [150]
2 Thunderbolts

REAVER CLASS TITAN [650]

Switching out the Warlord for a Reaver has made me feel a bit better about this list. Adding in the shadowsword mean no loss of firepower, really enhancing it though multi-targeting. Downgrading the bombards to basilisks is something I'm not happy about, but my bombards weren't preforming well in testing. I love those things in minigeddon, but they don't fare quite as well in 3k games. Not to mention I can count on losing them early to air attacks or teleports most games.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a good proxy for the Khorne team's Bloodspawn for Blood Bowl? Both 3D print files and physical models.

Any big model that fits nicely on a standard base will be fine. Any sufficiently gnarly troll or ogre model will do. The only notable physical quality to look for would be claws.

I like the PP Night Troll, but it is a bit on the big side. ymmv if it fits well with your team's look. (I find PP matches will with Greebo or some new-school GW designs, but not so much older GW teams.)

Distinct possibility it'll be a Necron and Chaos 4th wave, giving 6th and 7th factions.

But yeah, I imagine a greenlight after they've have the Wave 3 sales figures come in.

I picked up the original AI starter set from GW's sale last weekend, still waiting for it to show up.

Not sure when I'll get around to playing it, but first I'll probably build some airfield terrain to use with the imperial planes in Titanicus.

AI's fun, but my group mostly bought the models for use in Epic: Armageddon. A game usually takes 30-45 minutes and there's a decent selection of scenarios for variety.

How is the scale of AT to Epic anyways? Are the AT minis close enough that you just need to print off the rest of the army, or do you need to do some creative basing for AT to work in Epic?

Technically epic is 6mm and AT is 8mm but in reality scale in Epic was more of a "suggestion" rather than any hard numbers. The models look fine next to each other but the guys who actually play games will have to comment on whether titans having bigger footprints is a problem.

I just finished my Reaver and it looks amazing alongside my epic. Basing for epic is incredibly flexible, the base the Reaver came with is fine for epic.

AI on the other hand just feels too big in some cases. The thunderbolts I got just plain look too big even next to the Reaver. The phoenix bombers I got seem to be a good match at least. Though my poor Space Marine 2nd Ed era phantom titan looks like a revenant now.

There's always complaints about how big the new AI stuff is, but playability and visual reasons aside, most aircraft absolutely dwarf ground vehicles. For example

F-22 19m long
M1 9m long gun forward.

The tank is incredibly dense at 3x the mass though.

I think a big part of the confusion is that many of us (at least in the US) have seen a tank or APC parked by a National Guard armory and notice how it's so much bigger than a car so we think it's gigantic. Meanwhile not many people have been that close to military jets and at best only see them fly overhead.

I’ve stood under an aircraft carrier and felt that it was massive but strangely small at the same time. It just doesn’t look big enough to hold all the people and jets on board when up close.
