I'm having trouble finding a parody of Telephone by Beyonce and Lady Gaga, made by two British girls. I can vividly remember some of the lyrics but can't find the video anywhere. Some of the lyrics:

- You caught me at a bad time, I am kinda mid-poo
- What-whats that you did say, did you say you're on the loo?'
- To put it lightly, thank you!
- Oh my god we're besties I am also pooing too!

and

- I won't get no sex tonight cos Jay Z is a bastard, he's always loving plastered

Kinda the same, but I’ve been listening to a 9 hour recorded-on-cassette audiobook of Neuromancer because it’s my favorite book and I know it by heart, so it’s almost soothing (dude’s voice is loving perfect) and it helps me get to sleep sometimes. The last hour or so is The Straylight Run, pretty much the best chapters ever written, and I was going just now to turn it on and try to relax.

It’s gone. It was a complete recording, start-to-finish in one single YouTube video. I guess that made it stick out for piracy maybe? Now I can’t even find this recording anywhere. I love William Gibson, but listening to his nasally voice for a 5 hour chopped up playlist is not how I find relaxation after being awake all this time. It’s like “antisleep,” effectively. And I refuse to buy an Audible copy, because of a combination of the unknown (to me) narrator and the fact that I own like six copies of this book already, and I don’t think Gibson would get money from it after all these years of sold and ripped-off IP anyway.

Sounds like it was the Arthur Addison version. A few people are complaining about it going missing on the Neuromancer sub reddit in the last three weeks. Someone there claims to have a copy.

Cool! I have had that bookmarked forever, and the dude made even the cassette flipping sound Cyberpunk! Glad to learn the name. I love Wil Gibson immensely and forever, but his voice reminded me of ole Steve King reading “The Gunslinger.” I’ll just twist the old backhanded compliment and say both men have the perfect voices for authors.

As a Tennessee native, Gibson’s “Dixie Flatline” is just atrocious! I would pay a pound of flesh to hear Harry Connick,Jr. read the Construct’s voice coms, though!

does a backup exist anywhere of a very early Newgrounds portal submission (back when you had to email Tom Fulp your swf and he added it manually) called "A Clockwork Adam"? all I remember is the main character was represented by a scanned black and white yearbook photo of i guess the author's weird friend named Adam, and he was wearing a helmet with horns, and he runs amok yelling "BLOWJOB! I wanna sing one for the cars

I feel incredibly weird posting this as a white whale, because I have the title and author, but I've hit a wall, so here goes: back when I was doing high-school theater, I remember reading in a program about some other school doing a play called "Cute Boys in Their Underpants Fight the Evil Trolls." The tiny scraps of information I can find on Google about it suggest that it's a late-'80's-early'90's parody of bad gay theater (which makes me wonder if a Nebraska high school really put it on, but I digress), that the author's name is Robert Coles, and that it may have been part of a series, with the first one just being titled "Cute Boys in Their Underpants." I've found playbills for sale and references to these plays and to Coles in secondary sources, but I can't find the goddamn play(s)! I don't know whether they just don't exist in print (they weren't huge-profile productions out of their niche, as far as I can tell), they're only in some proprietary theatrical catalogue, or they don't exist and I've been taken in by some theater-kid inside joke. Even searching for the author doesn't help, since there's a prominent psychology author named Robert Coles. I'm at the end of my rope here, and every time I type "cute boys in their underpants" into Google I feel like a creep, so... help?

My Lovely Horse
Aug 21, 2010

Some casual googling suggests at least part of it is contained in "The best stage scenes of 1994" (ed. Jocelyn Beard), which if you look it up on WorldCat points you to archive.org and which may or may not contain a reference to where it might be published. The archive.org version requires an account.

I've also found out that Robert Coles is the founder of the NYC Vortex Theater Company, which has no readily available contact details. Their website was vortextheater.com, it's offline but maybe some snapshots on archive.org have some old info. They might have an archive (more realistically, they might have some boxes of old 80s stuff molding in the basement).

A long time ago - There was some sort of documentary or something that had a scene that showed a bunch of animated (possibly CGI?) hammers over a green grid that were all striking in time with each other, and it may have been about computers but I honestly have no idea. There was some kind of dialog about the hammers or circuits or something keeping each other in synchronization.

This was something I caught just a few minutes of back in the early 90s and for some reason it's stuck in my dumb brain ever since and had me going what the gently caress was that.

Probably impossible for anyone to figure out from my minimal description - I hope I'm not wasting the thread's time. I do hope someone knows WTF it was though.

So this just popped into my head, but my ex from 3~ years ago used to listen to a singer who has this really baby soft voice and sings over these really ambient lo-fi EDM tunes that I think are written for her. I remember looking her up way back when and I think she's from Russian, or has Russian parents and is around 20 or something. I can't for the live of me think of her name and nothing I search brings up anything. Bits and pieces of her music are stuck in my head waiting to come out but I can't remember enough to actually piece together a melody or lyrics to help in my search.

I may have hallucinated this, but I distinctly remember hearing an audio clip from, I think, Rush Limbaugh's show (although it could've also been Boortz or Hannity or one of those guys) from around the 2016 campaign season where he was talking about Bernie and said something to the effect of "The Democrats are scared of Bernie. They're scared of him because when he talks about Medicare for All, he means it. And when he's talking about taxing the 1%, he means it." And it was a very candid (and in my estimation, correct) assessment of the dynamic of the race at that point. Obviously this was when Bernie was ascendant in the races, so probably in 2015 some time. Does anybody else remember this?

I do. Even back then Limbaugh was rubbing his hands together at the thought of Biden running, because he’s always been such a fuckup spouting very clear racist, sexist, and occasional pedophilic remarks. I had been looking forward to new material because some of the good ones go all the way back to the 70s.

Limbaugh was actually scared of Bernie, though. A lot of Democrats were (and still are), too.

I thought this might have been it but none of the music sounds familiar; also the artist I was thinking of sang in English. The whole "Russian background" might have been some bullshit that I got mixed up with someone else's Wikipedia page. I remember this artist working almost exclusively with a specific music producer who probably did all of the instrumentals behind her voice.

There used to be this site called dmusic.com, kinda like a proto-Soundcloud where lovely artists can put their lovely music. Well anyways, there was this "band" (I think it was just one guy) called 50 Ways to Kill Me. The only tracks I remember are "Give Me Drugs, I Wanna Overdose", "Forcefeed Me Exlax Until I Poop Out My Organs", and "Give Me Cigarettes So I Get Cancer".

I've found some of their more recent "work", but not these three songs that still stand out to me. I can't find these anywhere.

EDIT: I also remembered the song "Put My Scrotum In A Vice".

Sorry, no. I grew up listening to Limbaugh mainly because my father and I started being on the road during his broadcasting time early in the Clinton administration and this was waaaay before streaming or satellite radio existed!

I think some of it might be available in his archives? I don’t know for sure, simply because I was never a member (I got my Papa John his newsletter after he found him and he listened like 3hours every day; I had to print it out for him!). It was good stuff, though. He was never dismissive about Bernie: of course he mocked his leftism and socialist views, but he never dismissed him as a crank or “too extreme to get support.” I always thought, specifically about Sanders, that Rush respected the man’s true passions as a threat as opposed to a buffoon-to-make-parody-songs-about. As contrasted with somebody like the “kinda clean, articulate” President we have now.

A lot of people grew up listening to him because of ambient exposure from parents or angry uncles or whatever. I lived in Florida for a while and he was just on, basically everywhere in public areas.

The whole reason I was asking about it is because that clip demonstrated where the tenor of the political discussion was at the time, and I couldn't remember if I had actually heard it or just heard about it.
