DDLC gets mentioned fairly early on in the Tokimeki video (and maybe later, I dunno, I'm not finished it) and I get the impression Rogers doesn't consider them to be particularly analogous.

Kanji/kana use fewer character spaces to say much more than English uses. So if you were to translate something really simple, like YES. In hiragana it is はい. See? 2 vs 3 characters. When you have entire English words that translate into a single Kanji the discrepancy grows fast. Again, I'm just guessing here. It's very possible that there is some other issue with translation.

I watched 3, 4, and 7, and am going back to make my way through the rest now. Another good video as usual. Maybe Tim mentions this in one of the other parts, but for all the music talk so far - including an aside about having been in a hardcore band - how has he not said anything about Refused?

I've watched all the parts like a criminal, and yeah he didn't really have much to say about the OST in general. Kind of strange, I take it as a sign he didn't really vibe with it. I didn't really vibe with it either, but I think a lot of the music was at least interesting

I watched the whole thing, as I am a criminal and also because Tim made it so that people would watch the whole thing and it was really good I am very excited for season 2. So far he's already said he's reviewing Earthbound, Final Fantasy IV, and Boku no Natsuyasumi, and also an unnamed open world game that he played while reviewing CP2077 and ended up loving. All of those sound like really interesting topics and I'm really looking forward to them

This is from upthread but DDLC and Tokimeki Memorial have like nothing in common. At all. Entirely different gameplay style and themes besides a Japanese High School veneer. Still on the fence whether that review or his Let's Mosey series are Tim's magnum opus.

Like I spent nearly a decade not playing many games but I got the side eye for liking FFX-2 as a young man because it had girls in it and there's only one reason for playing that kind of JRPG. Hell, you still see the same sentiments even in this forum now and it's just lovely.
