He'd been chronicling his efforts and intentions to spite his exes on facebook for absolutely ages and after burning through 400k it wasn't especially up in the air that that was a real intention. That he then shot himself within 24 hours of the court ordering him to pay $350 of child support really says it all. Read the ladyambien posts and skip the other 130 pages. Sadly there's not much up in the air, even if we will never precisely know what was going through his head, we very much do know what was going through his head for the last year of his life and it was a whole bunch of unapologetic spiteful poo poo. Dude never apologized or took any accountability and died denying that he'd ever been anything other than the victim of spiteful women out to get him. from what i gather the guy just really really went off the rails after he got bought out of SA he'd hosed up pretty horribly even before that. he could've just been less of an rear end in a top hat and he probably could've built up enough of a nest egg to retire over a few years. instead we have this mess

I also get the impression that he’d been digging in his heels on the point that he’d never been found in court to be an abuser, so the accusations didn’t really count, and apparently this court ruling took that away from him.

i didn't get full custody of vanya until he was eight, and before that he was in a home with less restrictive dog safety standards. from the time he was about six weeks old he used to just roam the bush totally unfettered all day long. most of his scars come from this era, i have no idea how he got them. when he was five, he got his collar stuck on something in the wilderness. he was gone for five days and then he found his way home, skin and bone, totally dehydrated, covered in crow pecks, collar-less and with half the skin on his neck rubbed off from freeing himself. his wandering days ended then, and he became a man of the house. he also got really fat for a few years after that because he was getting no exercise and lots of treats, but it doesn't seem to have harmed him long-term. orb vanya was a strange time.
