I didn't follow the saga closely, so I won't comment on the man himself. But this dumb forum has transformed nearly every facet of my life. From unimportant things like the movies I watch or the games I play, to massively influencing entire life path. Without some silly GBS thread about finding inspiration in life, I never would have taught English in Taiwan and Korea and eventually met my wife. Without the programming subforum, I never would have gotten into Python and eventually made software development my career. Without YLLS I never would have started running, ran a marathon, and gotten into weight-lifting. Without seeing all the amazing goon artists and tattoos, I never would have gotten a few of my own. The list goes on and on. Thanks Lowtax for creating this place, and thanks goons for keeping it going. RIP.

I'm gay, RIP Lowtax. My condolences to his family, especially his children. Lowtax and this forum have been important parts of my life over the last 13 years, and it's so strange to have him completely gone. It's a bittersweet occasion, like the death of an abusive yet affectionate father. I only wish he would have had a chance to redeem himself in the end. In 2003 Rich made me a mod of TCC at 19-years-old, and charged me with managing a bunch of email lists he setup for us to use to buy and sell drugs from each other. That was a great time in my life, but when I think back now, that says a lot about him as a person. Rest in whatever, man.

I wish he had turned his life around instead of ending it this way. I know he had family who loved him, and no one should have to deal with that kind of pain. I hope the fund raising efforts now will help get his ex wives and children the financial support they need. This site and community wouldn't have existed without him, and it has had a major impact on my life for the better. So farewell Lowtax, RIP
