I finally joined SA a couple of years after protesting :tenbux: due to a 5v5 Counterstrike scrim between #arsclan and whatever the SA version of the IRC gaming server / Counterstrike channel was at the time. I haven't spent more than a couple of days without reading a shitpost or a heartfelt effortpost on some obscure topic ever since. Dark mode has been the bee's knees as well as the in-thread search, the forums have been steadily improving and I am here for it. I also appreciate a fellow Oxygen Not Included player owning the forums! It's an incredible place we have all shared, but a lovely situation all around for the people he hurt, gently caress lowtax.

Holy poo poo, he's actually dead. I really thought it was a goof. He turned into a real garbage person, but honestly this is the forum that helped me come out as a giant queer, helped me get my starter job a dozen years ago, and made me a bunch of friends when I was super loving depressed because I didn't do the other 2 things yet.

I literally said almost exactly that before stopping but not before they started fast walking away from me. This is obviously a tragic situation I think the perplexing part was why I should give a poo poo about this tragic thing specifically. And maybe I shouldn't who knows Feel bad for the kids and feel bad for Lowtaxes victims most of all, also feel bad for his batshit mom throwing shade all over since her son poo poo the bed and killed himself, feel bad for Lowtax himself. I understand the vitriol towards Lowtax for what he had become, but I've seen enough addicts I knew before they flamed out and died to know that it's often not a conscious decision on their part. It's hard and sometimes impossible not to become a piece of poo poo after you've ruined your brain for years and for many people it doesn't take much to end up on that path inescapably. It doesn't excuse what he did but it's worth remembering to keep a little perspective. The world is objectively a better place without lowtax but I'm still sad about the news anyway and I'm not sure why. Because of his status as an early internet celebrity he was given more chances than most to make things right, and yet he hosed it up time and time again. The bar for being considered a good dad is set so insultingly low and yet people like Lowtax is why it's like that in the first place. I'm sad that it came to this. And I'm sad we were robbed of the spectacle watching him being held accountable for his actions. But this is the real world and he would have continued hurting people anyway. And yet, in the last moments of his life you just know that he was convinced he was the real victim in all of this.
