Anyway, it isn’t possible for the Democrats to collapse completely, they will still hang around in the shadows, maybe getting a branch or at least a portion of one once in a while. Pro-business republicans running as dems is some kind of cheat code for incumbency. If you ran as a republican you'd be in danger of primary when you wade into the conflicts between business and the republican base, but as a democrat you will never be primaried no matter what you do as long as you remember to campaign.
