a strike is an attempt to leverage your power as laborers to force concessions from your employer. there has not ever been a strike over a vaccine mandate and there likely never will be.

what’s this about JD now claiming their last offer was actually the last, final, and best? bargaining committee is saying they weren’t told that

But if so that's hilarious. A comically blatant and lazy attempt at high-pressure tactics just makes them look even weaker when they give a fresh deal in a week or two.

JD workers should break the tier system, IMO. It solidifies their bargaining in future years.

Agreed, tier systems are horrible. In addition to being unfair and destroying employee morale, they are also discriminatory as the higher tiers are disproportionately white and male. Corporate profits have skyrocketed in the last 30 years, there is no reason for benefits to be cut.

I think my union has one tiered contract via "hired on x date" and it bothers me to no end even though it's two guys who've probably long since retired from an obscure and insignificant contract.

teamsters pulled this poo poo three years ago with a UPS contract and now the hand picked successors to the leadership of that time are likely to lose to movement candidates but this in general fits with my own priorities in talking to organizers over the past 3-4 years: corrupt and complacent union leadership and the Byzantine bylaws they create to lock in their power are as big a threat as the bosses, and probably the first one they have to tackle.

The train derailment had to get an out-of-state company to come clear it: none of the in-state companies that had the equipment to fix it would cross the picket lines. There was also apparently a grain silo fire at one of the factories.
