Not something I'd considered, but the firing may have to be delayed until 14:30 on Monday:

Any decision may be delayed, though, because the club must inform the New York Stock Exchange of any decision to dismiss him. It does not open again until Monday.

What is the best number?
After his performance today, Harry Maguire has taken the lead in the race for the 'worst captain in the league' trophy. Fernandinho is in second, because he's barely played this season, but at least he doesn't actively hurt his team's chances from the bench. All this has me wondering: who are the all-time worst captains in the history of the premier league?

What about all of Arsenal's captains that ended up leaving at the end of the season because the captaincy was only some kind of desperate attempt at keeping them at the club?

It shouldn't be too expensive to get rid of Solskjaer, hes only got three years left on a contract he signed back in July (presumably to fend off interest from every big European club).

Feel like Lee cattermole at Sunderland has to be up there, fit the mold of a tough tackling no nonsense captain so kept the job for ages despite being extremely bad and getting sent off every week

he was in fact Arsenal captain at that point, yes

he later lost the captaincy after saying that his teammates were poo poo bottlers, which was true, and then went to play for Spurs

It's not beyond the realms of possibility that Ole decided it was time for him to step aside but there's no way he quit because then he wouldn't have got his, I presume, massive severance package

Pretty sure they were negotiating a mutual consent release, otherwise it would have cost them a fuckton of money. So technically he probably did leave voluntarily.

Normally I'd agree, but I dont find it entirely impossibly that he agreed to let them off the hook considering his history with the club.
