i just watched the first ep of cowboy bebop. (so far) it's not as bad as everyone was making out to be but the action and editing is.... not great. feels very low energy/impact. the unrealistic dream would be for it to have taken cues from stephen chow or speed racer but what we got is basically just passable.

nice things: Jet and Spike occasionally do talk to each other the way normal humans might in such a hosed up situation... almost emphasizing a beautiful bromance. None of that happens in the anime It's kinda like Baz Luhrmann's Romeo+Juliet The sets and props are amazing Spike and Jet straight-up murder dozens of people and don't even blink bad things: nothing but fight scenes that edit away from the hits (unless it's a bullet wound) Quippy "Joss Whedon" dialogue constantly undoes any of the goodwill from whatever "real" dialogue that takes place Episodes are way too long They try to fit every minor character and have all these scenes that need not exist It's kinda like Once Upon a Time in New Mexico Jokerpilled Drudge has issued a correction as of 16:04 on Nov 21, 2021 |

I will say the marketing was garbage and apparently done by a loving psychopath so i see where you are coming from based on the materials you've seen. Also the show is not great, it's not even good per se Jokerpilled Drudge has issued a correction as of 16:40 on Nov 21, 2021 |

For newer Series I've started Arcane (Netflix): Worth checking out since the overall animation technique and art style really sets it apart. never played any of the League of Legend games but still could get into the series Wheel of Time (Amazon Prime): Sort of the sword and sorcery which is a faithful adaption of source material even though the production can feel 90s fantasy TV at times.

Hill House was like 4 episodes of excellent, tightly paced horror, culminating in the masterpiece of Nell's episode. Then it kept going for some reason and ended on a giant 30 minute fart noise.
