It's crazy how often doctors and researchers have deliberately conducted weird experiments on themselves because they needed to test something in humans. It is more ethical than just rounding up other humans to test on them, but it's pretty intense! IIRC a bunch of doctors studying maleria died by giving themselves maleria on purpose so it's not like it's just the 1700s either.

The trick with that particular visa fast-track program is that it only applies to scientists who have won awards from a very specific list. Surprising absolutely nobody, the awards on the list are overwhelmingly given to white men.

My dog taught herself to steal cat poop from the litter box at night then play with it on the upstairs rug where the cat previously had a peeing problem. Because Dizi doesn't actually eat the poop-just plays with it a bit and enjoys having the forbidden kibble-we blamed the cat for weeks till we figured it out.
