This is for my reference. If you want to use it, go ahead. Or downvote away, I really don't care. I'm just sick of seeing the same comments over and over along the lines of "What has Joe Biden done?" or "He's better than Trump, but that's about it." by people who have the memory of goldfish. Is Biden a great president? History hasn't determined that yet. Has he spent the last 10 months making GBS threads his adult diapers and golfing while rage-tweeting about how American Service Members are cowards or how he'd really like you to buy his friend's beans? No. So here is a list I put together of what the gently caress has been going on in 2021:

TL/DR: No, this is already a TL/DR of CURRENT EVENTS. If you don't care, why should I?

PS: If it's not clear, I don't think Biden walks on water. He's made some pretty big blunders, and I have qualms with his policies, so spare me the "This is just a Biden fanboy post" nonsense. Also, I didn't get into his appointees, what the DOJ under him has been up to, etc. And I probably missed or mischaracterized a couple of things. Sue me.

(BTW, these photos are just filler, like bookmarks. I don't claim to own them. In fact, this one is from Nat Geo.)

So what the hell has the Congress under Joe Biden been up to? Here's a list of notable bills that were passed this year:

117-2 American Rescue Plan Act - Covid checks, extended unemployment, emergency paid leave, extended food stamp benefits, expanded child tax credit, tax increases on large corporations, business grants, state govt funding for shortfalls, covid mitigation for schools, housing assistance, funding for vaccines/PPE/distribution, pension protection, expanded ACA coverage
117-4 Pushing for vaccines for vets through VA
117-6 PPP extension for small businesses
117-15 Reauthorized stem cell research
117-17 Establishes Juneteenth holiday
117-21 Expands VA rural healthcare
117-32 Medals for capitol police
117-37 Provide therapy dogs to service members
117-38 Medals for WWI black veterans
117-40 Require budget justifications to be made public
117-45 Increased cost of living for veterans
117-58 Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal
117-61 Extend disability benefits for first responders

So, yeah. Only one pretty important bill through Congress per month, including TWO HUGE PIECES OF LEGISLATION! In his first year in office! With a potential THIRD on the way. And with practically 0 help from Republicans. In the midst of ongoing investigations into a ton of corrupt bullshit carry over from the previous administration, plus the January 6th investigations.

But that above is just Congress. Biden is only involved in negotiating and signing. People can be forgiven if they don't give credit to him for those, right? How about what he did directly. WHELP, here's a list of his executive actions, many done in his first 100 days in office, along with several additional presidential actions that he has taken:

Executive Orders:
-*Raise min wage for federal workers* to $15 and restore collective bargaining power
-Raise cap on refugees and lifts Trump ban
-Additional sanctions on Russia
-Formed commission on SCOTUS reform
-Revoked sanctions against ICC officials
-Sanctions on Myanmar military leaders for coup
-Ends family separation policy
-Extend FEMA support for national guard money spent during pandemic
-Closed loopholes in the Buy American rules
-Reversed ban on transgender in military
-Used the defense production act to address Coronavirus supply deficiencies
-Ended US withdrawal from WHO
-Extended the eviction moratorium (twice) and student loan pause
-Rejoined the Paris Climate Accord
-Canceled the Keystone XL Pipeline and 100+ Trump environmental policies
-Rescinds the 1776 commissions
-Ended Trump border wall construction
-Modernized regulatory reviews through OMB
-Criminal justice reform/collaboration with Indigenous communities
-Executive support for Historically Black Colleges and Universities
-*Direct FTC to issue rules on Right-to-Repair*

Other Acts:
-Extend nuclear arms treaty with Russia
-Take over US withdrawal from Afghanistan/sets September end date
-Immediately release disaster relief for Texas blackouts, Hurricane Ida, New York floods, West Coast Wildfires, etc
-Meet 100M and 200M vaccination goals ahead of first 100 days
-Official recognition of Armenian Genocide
-Suspends ANWR oil and gas leases
-Cancelled 1.5B in student loan debt
-Announced investigation into rising gas prices, agreement to release strategic oil reserve with China, South Korea, UK, others

So, yeah. If you don't actually give a poo poo about any American community other than rich white birth-citizens, none of these look like a big deal at all. Fair enough.

So Biden got some things done. But it's been a pretty chill year. He hasn't had much on his plate to deal with other than passing bills and ruling through executive orders, right? Well, here's a brief highlight reel of major events related to US politics and governance as a reminder:

****FP Edit: Wow, you made it all the way to the end and put it on FP! Sorry, the last slide got moved. I also edited two items to make it clearer exactly what Biden did. Don't bother sending nudes, I never check my DMs anyway.****

You know whats really funny is that if I expressed concern (or god forbid, anger) at the sudden restart of payments after forbearance in say, D&D, I'd be accused immediately of only caring because it affected me, personally. As though that is the bar to be met.

My grandma died in 2009 and her estate (what there was of it) covered my $20k in outstanding loans I had left, by her express will. I don't have any outstanding student loans anymore, and I didn't have a choice in it.

libs will never loving admit to the fact that they engage in politics out of self interest while they constantly and unendingly only participate when it benefits them personally.

some time ago I read a twitter thread, maybe linked from here but I don’t remember, that was an interesting elaboration on what harry potter could be like if it/rowling believed in something like that post posits. the crux was that anyone could do magic, there’s no such thing as a muggle, and the insane structure of wizard society was in large part due to keeping that secret. I sincerely enjoyed it, and hopefully this is the most embarrassing post I ever make

you know one thing i will say about trump is that he was willing to throw so much of this performative bullshit out the window.

he never did a day of volunteer work, nor did he get a presidential dog or cat cause even though the media would have ate that poo poo up
