They're not in the E92, the S65 revs too fast for it to be fun shifting 400 times every mile and the clutch & shifter have nothing special to recommend that choice in that car. Manuals definitely have cachet with the nostalgia crowd that believes that shifting a manual car is some sort of lost art that literally only 98% of the developing world can do every single day, but it's not a better choice in a lot of cars. I have a manual in the two cars I own that benefit from rowing your own gears. The DCT acts exactly like a manual transmission when you drive it the way it's meant to be applied, you just don't have to take your hand off the wheel to do the shift. Here's a helpful guide I made. There's zero manual transmissions in this image

I just think it's cool that the auto industry kept manuals - it's one totally outdated and completely unnecessary thing that everyone just decided "hey, that's fun!" and kept it around for over 100 years. Sorry about your automatic E92 cope, my buddy has one in stick and it's loving divine.
