The framing of the movie being one sequence of events shown through three unique perspectives where things are slightly different worked super well and reminded me of Dunkirk but done way better. It was interesting how very slight camera perspective/dialogue changes have such a big impact on characterization.

Sometimes for TV time my kid will want me to put on Pup Academy, which as far as I can tell is in the Air Budiverse along with the Air Buddies movies. I'll give it this: it has a lot of cute puppies which is nice, there's also a rival cat academy because of course, and it's not the worst or most annoying kid's show I've ever seen, it's downright tolerable most of the time I'm gonna try and track this down for the next bad movie night

Paul W.S. Anderson was not successful at the box office before Resident Evil but made some decently pretty stupid sci-fi films in Event Horizon and Soldier (and the first Mortal Kombat movie which... okay it actually made fuckton of money on a $20 million budget.) Johannes Roberts has made mostly low-budget schlock like 47 Meters Down and The Strangers: Prey at Night that made well over 5 times their small budgets back. I get the temptation of the gamble but it doesn't appear to have paid off. Doesn't seem like Roberts knew how to spend the money to step up his game

Sacha Baron Cohen has revealed he walked away from a high-profile role as Freddie Mercury because the surviving members of Queen wanted a substantial part of the film to focus on them. Speaking to the US radio host Howard Stern, Baron Cohen said he hoped to present a “warts ‘n’ all” view of the legendary singer’s hedonistic lifestyle, but Mercury’s former bandmates were more concerned with protecting their legacy. The comedian and actor said: “A member of the band – I won’t say who – said: ‘You know, this is such a great movie because it’s got such an amazing thing that happens in the middle.’” “And I go: ‘What happens in the middle of the movie?’ He goes: ‘You know, Freddie dies.’ ... I go: ‘What happens in the second half of the movie?’ He goes: ‘We see how the band carries on from strength to strength.’
