I'll listen to TMK once in awhile and yeah they are more 'tech focused' if that's what you're looking for. they have some good eps. that said, it's just a personal taste but i really don't care for the hosts/guests most of the time, and comes off kinda obnoxiously long-winded D&D lib at times

there was one ep where the guest was talking about his radicalizing movement being hillary losing in 2016 and brexit, and i just about died. just lol if loving killary clinton losing and brexit is you're loving moment of 'enlightenment'.

i mean it cracked a lot of goons including me so if it gets people to open their eyes then roll with it

I've been listening to one called "Sengoku Daimyo's Chronicles of Japan" which is really good (if you're interested in Japanese stuff)

https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9zZW5nb2t1ZGFpbXlvLmxpYnN5bi5jb20vcnNz

I'd say the style is pretty similar to revolutions/Rome, in that its one guy researching and narrating a pretty linear account of events, with a bit of speculation and analysis, and I'm really enjoying it

I think, between the release schedule and the detail he seems to want to cover things in, the pace is a bit slow (~2 years in and he's still working through the at best semi-historical emperors) but I have plenty of other podcasts to fill in gaps between releases

I just finished listening to a 6 hour podcast (7 parts) about China's foreign policy from 1949 to the present while assembling some furniture so obtuse and diabolical that I'm convinced that this is China's revenge strike for the century of humiliation.

anyway, they attribute the largest break of sino-soviet relations as because of krushev meeting the Americans and agreeing on peace and nuclear non-proliferation at a meeting that excluded China while the US were aggressive in their region. USSR didn't like that china wasn't accepting their lead and recalled the scientists they had stationed in China for over a decade giving them help. china felt like USSR was behaving like a "great nation" dictating terms rather than promoting socialism and the US exploited these divisions by playing them against each other.

but even before Stalin's death, there were differences like Soviets being less globally confrontational than China, who were building up allies in the third world. there were also differences in how China chose to develop its economy compared to the path the USSR took (more focus on peasants etc)

part 1 is more focused on setting up the state of affairs with USSR and USA but is still probably worth listening, but part 2 is where they focus on the Sino-Soviet split:

Is it just me or are the best True Anon episodes about tech? Their Metaverse episode really helped me put together that as stupid as bitcoin, the blockchain, NFTs and the metaverse might seem to us, especially on here, they're really not meant to succeed on their own terms, and are probably all just a prototype for an almost parallel digital society with its own economy and even government that we'll all be forced to be a part of eventually.

Are there any other good podcast eps about the metaverse?

I think that with tech there can sometime be a blind spot due to "what rich people think technology is becoming" and "what technology is actually becoming" being different things. Like, the fact that some rich people think that stuff like the meta-verse will become a thing at some point doesn't mean it actually will (at least in any real meaningful or impactful sense).

Usually "rich people want this" is a pretty reliable standard of "this is what society is going to do," but that reasoning can fall apart a bit when the rich are being mislead by tech investor storytime. Rich people aren't really any less dumb than anyone else when it comes to most of this stuff.

Felix murdered Virgil and then Will and Matt helped cover it up by insisting that he was actually podcasting with them at the time of the murder. This gradually drives Felix insane as he can't make sense of this discrepency.
