They changed it so that 1 skeleton will respawn outside of crypts now I think. But I assume if you put a workbench there they would be prevented from spawning.

So I figured I would muck around with building something with wood-iron beams, but when I place them on a peice of stone it's immediately orange, rather than blue strength? Does it need to connect directly to the ground?

Everything follows the same rules, plus or minus each materials’ unique values as you move away from the center. If that piece of stone is a stone floor or pillar that you built then anything attached to it will lose support in the same way as if you attached wood to wood. If it’s a rock the world generated then

Yes, wood-iron doesn't reset back to blue when it touches stone so you want to connect it directly to the ground.

Yeah it's placing it on a rock wall I placed. I assumed it would play by the wood rules where they reset to blue if touching stone.

Yeah it's placing it on a rock wall I placed. I assumed it would play by the wood rules where they reset to blue if touching stone.

Basic wood goes blue when touching stone components because even at the smallest amount of stability stone will provide the maximum amount of stability basic wood can have. To put it more simply a basic wood pole attached to the ground will have the same stability as a basic wood pole attached to the flimsiest piece of stone.

Iron wood at max stability provides 1.5 times more stability than stone does at max stability. What this means is that iron wood should be your starting point because it will be able to support stone longer than stone will be able to support iron wood.

Landed on an island with a little meadow along shore, next to black forest, next to swamp (with one of those spiral staircase down things on it's edge), just below a mountain and then plains. I've died a few times. I am playing like a squirrel, and find it hard to focus.

fake edit: and the merchant camp on the far end.

For the record I am still "bronze age", and have merely dipped my foot into the swamp.

My brothers and I have gotten back into this game and decided since we left off at the fifth area, to do a completely new restart. While exploring around I came across this

None of us have been near this area, apparently a troll just decided enough was enough and dropped a tree on itself.

Yeah, was fun figuring that strategy out, but it's much quicker to get a good parry in and then go ham with an axe. If you need to regain stamina, keep circling left and keep your eyes peeled for other mobs joining the party.

I think the Abomination is a great sign of things to come. Well balanced, fun to fight, looks good and the animation when it activates is great. I feel like Iron Gate is improving.

Haven't yet seen the new mob, but I do have a semi pet star troll that is hanging out on the edge of the swamp, smashing SOMETHING with the tree trunk. Whatever he's been battling, it has been almost a day.

The upside is the noise he makes attracts all the swamp critters, and he 1 shots them.

Edit: pet troll finally died. :abloo:

Maybe I'm just stomping around too much but I get like 3 every time I go on a blood bag run. It's manageable but kind of excessive. I hope they dial the spawn rate back a little bit.

I don't know how they can manage spawns, but drat if I feel that every axe swing or ground flattening IMMEDIATELY spawns stuff. Not hard stuff, but a constant nuisance. The frequency of world save freezes while in mid combat is getting old as well.

Currently working on tree to tree building, so I can get stuff done.

Hahaha, I was sailing along sloooooowly against the wind and decided to stop at a fuling village located on a beach I was passing. I was standing outside trying to figure out how many were inside when a "you are being hunted" event started. I didn't know you could get those outside a mountain biome and I was nowhere near one. The wolves spawned directly inside the village and completely wrecked the fulings and the things in a nearby tar pit. I even kited a 3 star troll from an adjacent forest into the fight and it lasted about 2 seconds. Luckily, only a few wolves were left after the event ended and I was able to collect a ton of black metal and wolf skins. Even got a totem!

Kibayasu
Mar 28, 2010

Apparently the wolf event is unique in that it doesn't require you to be near a player built structure to occur. It can spawn in both mountains and plains though.

BrianRx
Jul 21, 2007
Oh cool, I didn't know that. I don't think I would have enjoyed it if the village wasn't there, though. In the mountains I can usually find advantageous terrain to fight on/from, but there usually isn't much within sprinting distance in the Plains. I could see getting surrounded and destroyed even in higher tier armor.

The plains is honestly unfairly rough a lot of the time. If you get a fuling horde event you might as well just die to get it over with right away.
