I'm rewatching the American dad Christmas specials (because tis the season) and while they're all still great there's one thing that's bugging me and that's the moral of Minstrel Krampus being basically "Abusing your kids is good actually!" Like, I know it's a comedy show and this is far from the first time they've had an episode with an intentionally hosed up lesson, it's just that literally every other time Stan's dad shows up the show is very explicit about the whole "Jack is a terrible man and an even worse father and the way he treated Stan as a kid caused deep seated psychological and emotional damage that continues to gently caress Stan up as an adult" thing, so when Minstrel Krampus ends with "Stan's dad being so hard on him was good and it made Stan a good person and now Jack is getting magic powers so he can treat children all over the world the same way he treated Stan!" it's kind of weird and gross to see.
