He’s been raised in an echo chamber of how men are perfect and do no wrong and if something bad happens it’s because the female made it happen and he just needs to ask for forgiveness. He never had to deal with any consequences for his actions - both legal or illegal. He was always bailed out and even when the show was canceled after he molested his sisters, he still was covered and protected. Hell, some idiot couple has him staying at their house during this and his wife popped out a kid during all this and is still by his side. There is not enough what the fuckery to go around. When he finished the program in 2003, he met with Jim Bob, an Springfield, Arkansas state trooper named Hutchins who was a friend of Jim Bob's, and a bunch of church elders. Hutchins gave Josh 'a very stern talk' but did jack poo poo in an official capacity. Thus, Josh probably figures much the same will happen this time after the trial. No one else would have learned of the molestation except that a family friend jotted down a detailed synopsis of the molestation in a letter, and then shoved it into a book. That book was lent out to some unknown person who found the letter and gave it to the Springfield Police. Authorities then interviewed some of the alleged victims in December 2006 and found some truth to the matter and even question Jim Bob and wife, but then decide, whoops, the statute of limitations has already run out and drop the matter.

People are talking about his demeanour/body language/facial expressions etc. I see it as a symptom of his abusive "blanket training". He has been trained to stand still, smile, don't make a fuss, stand up straight, do what you're told, look happy, don't whine, shut up, stop fidgeting, etc. for his whole life. It is all he knows how to do. So now he has been busted, it is all he can do, stand still with his stupid "if I am happy then Jesus loves me" half smile on his face. Not realizing, (or possibly even caring), how it looks to normal people. Also as a second possibly related point, due to the fundie upbringing I doubt he has any remorse about what he has done, or sympathy for the victims. If he feels bad, IF, then it would only be because he has "sinned". But so long as you say sorry to big old Jebus in the sky, then everything will be OK. Or at least that's how he, and his hosed up church sees it. This is not defending the paedo abuser. gently caress him and may he receive justice for the lives of the women and children he has hurt. Just offering an explanation as to why he looks and acts the wayhe does.

Or at least that's how he, and his hosed up church sees it. this is one of the psychological outcomes of beating your kids as a parenting method - if you're not punishing me, then i'm not doing anything wrong. if i dont get caught, i dont get punished, i didn't do anything wrong beating your kids doesn't make them better people, it just makes them sneakier. actually talking to your kids and helping them build a sense of real inner morality is hard to do when you're producing children by volume for the glory of god, and all you have to do to make them moral is teach them a bunch of easily reinterpreted ancient stories and hit them with a stick until they say they understand this is also why they follow the angry fire and brimstone god, and why the idea of eternal damnation in a lake of fire makes sense to them theologically. why would anyone want to worship a god which is guaranteed to abuse and torture you? doesn't the loving, accepting god who forgives and understands you seem more attractive to outsiders? absolutely not, because that god is a loving pussy (which is feminine, and bad)
