The most sus thing about Virgil is that he was an Overwatch fanatic with a built in fanbase and a Twitch channel but never streamed a game to my knowledge.

Hinge Points is Hell of Presidents B-sides; it's not great but I think it benefits from listening to HoP and hearing Christman building up ideas that he kinda just gestures at in HP

I think he believes that global capital has won, and there is nothing you can do about it. I don't think there is a "perfect" socialist project but I see what China is doing, and the general wins of an actual anti imperialist left in Latin and South America and it makes me really hopeful.

I don't know enough about China to have an opinion on it, but I really do think that Latin America is the best hope for socialist progress in our lifetime. Ideally it would be the role of leftists in USA to stop our government from loving it up, but foreign policy is completely outside democratic control, so I'm not sure how we'd do that.

AnimeIsTrash posted:After the defeat of Bernie I noticed that Christman adopted a pretty nihilistic attitude towards the world and the broader socialist project. I think he believes that global capital has won, and there is nothing you can do about it. he hasn't done vlogs in awhile now but they were largely a vehicle for him working through conflicting feelings of still believing in potential of dengism, latin america and very limited domestic labor power versus staring down the barrel of the gun as earth is rapidly being assassinated (its not just climate change) before the inherent contradictions and forces of global capital and decades of individualistic yeoman farmer-wannabe identities can be turned. so no he hasn't said that there's nothing that can be done and has explicitly said that it's not entirely set in stone that nothing can be done. but rather it's also unlikely that much will be done (domestically) before the planet pretty much dies. in another timelime absent the threat of planetary death, global hegeomonic capitalism would eventually be defeated. but that time doesn't really exist. also he would, and has, said nihilism is stupid as poo poo.
