Showed my wife the Excel memes and she could relate. A few years ago when she basically in an entry level position at her job her boss said "hey you know how to use excel right?" And she said sure and then spent a week watching YouTube tutorials until she grasped the basics. Now she uses Excel everyday and has ascended to that boss' position and beyond.

the teapot isn't fake. it is a real teapot made by the german company Melitta. a graphics researcher in the 1970s built the original model based on his own tea set and published the data for other researchers to use, since in those days it was really hard to build new 3d models, and as a result it became well-known in the graphics community. the cg version looks squashed compared to the real thing because the computer he programmed it on used non-square pixels. if you view the model on his original system the proportions are correct.

OwlFancier posted:Is that the conspiracy theory that hilary eats babies? That's a "triathlont". But no, ask a hungarian about the treaty of Trianon and you'll get an avalance of unhinged ranting about injustice of not being an empire anymore (read: literal prison for anyone except hungarians and trampling on the rights of everyone else). It's a deeply embeded and state sponsored chauvinistic myth, of "stolen greatness" and the "injustice" of ethnic hungarians ending up in the new formed nations. It's a really cheap and good tool to whip up the dumbest elements of society. I don't think there's anything remotely comparable in the US. It's really intense. They have songs in church about this, collective, national processions and national grieving each year.

Jim Blinn stated that he scaled the model on the vertical axis during a demo in the lab to demonstrate that they could manipulate it. They preferred the appearance of this new version and decided to save the file out of that preference." sry kid, owned by wikipedia

Indecisive posted:what the gently caress is regex and why But because writing all that is silly we just write "word.*word". Obviously anything can be made more complicated (have you actually looked at the supported Google predicates lately?), and regular expressions are considerably more powerful, but seriously this is where most people begin. Very few people care that regular expressions are "a formal grammar for a class of languages accepted by deterministic finite automata".
