Chuck Tingle's books CAN, though very far from always, have well-stated insights or metaphors, and be very sweet. He's also got a few actual novels out, like his horror book, Straight. Also: a full set of tabletop RPG books.

I've read a bunch of Dr. Tingle's stuff, and own like a half-dozen of his novellas, short story collections, etc. As some other posters have said, his work is this really wonderful, strange blend of sweetness, on-the-nose metaphors, absurdity, metacontextual commentary/humor, and straight-up loving. The loving gets a little rote, although there are times where something insane will happen, like in the State of California Stalks my Gay Butthole, when California jizzes it floods the streets of San Francisco but somehow everything's all okay

A question re: Chuck Tingle Novellas. Are they all gay themed? Also are they all bumsex themed? Coz there are other things gay guys/triceratops/anthropomorphic personifications of the British Pound etc. can do to each other as well as just pound each other in the butt.
