Spilled a drink on my Switch and now it won't detect any right joycon being attached to it. I am not really confident in my ability to successfully replace the rail lol

Just squirt a gallon of WD-40 in there and keep wiggling it.

I did (after compressed air / qtip with rubbing alcohol didn't do anything) but no noticeable effect and I don't really want to keep squirting WD-40 into my electronics

you might be able to take it to one of those repair places for computers and phones and stuff.

Yeah I'm just gonna do that I think. Always feels like a waste of money when there are tutorials and stuff to do it yourself, but I was reading through an 18-part guide and started to balk at the part where you have to take out the Switch's internal battery and replace the thermal paste

my ps4 recently had an overheating problem which required me to replace the thermal paste. youtube and a reasonable amount of attention for part of an afternoon saw me through and the rush when the loving thing turned on and then worked perfectly is goty material.

I had to replace the left joycon rail on my Switch because it kept saying it was disconnected if I barely touched it. I was kind of shocked with how much was involved in replacing it. Like you basically take apart every single piece of the entire system down to nothing just to replace it.

If you wanna send it to me and obviously pay return shipping I'd do it for free. lmk

The replacement I bought on Amazon for like $13 seemed identical to the stock one and is still going strong now 2 years later.

My launch day Switch is basically coming apart at the seams (either the screws fell out or the parts of the case where the screws attach had the plastic break off.)

It's perfectly fine even with extended use in handheld, but you could pull the whole thing apart with minimal effort if you wanted to.

I might pick up one of those fancy colored shells online and try to rehouse it and then see if I can flip it on eBay and eventually buy an OLED. Not a pressing issue but might be a project for the near future.

I got a see through grey shell to match my old GBC and it was cool. joycons looked sick. ended up giving it to my cousin after I lucked out on an OLED though

Thanks man, I'm in the UK so probably wouldn't be worth it based on shipping/time alone, but appreciate the offer. And if you found it a pain in the rear end it makes me feel a lot better in deciding not to do it myself lmao
