Finally caved and tasted a game. Switch cartridges are Denatrol® flavored. Specifically Denatonium Benzoate. You may have tasted it before after using some hand sanitizers or blowing these things:

The separation between action, action/adventure, family and even RPG make very little sense, while I kind of doubt they have enough releases to really justify strategy and fighting game categories.

Saw mention of oleds being in stock again a few pages back. Went to get one and saw the "actual color black" thing on their site and got confused. I had no idea oleds came in anything other than white. The point of the story is it was pretty easy to find them in stock at most stores this morning. Some only had them in store, but had plenty. Some had them online only, and had plenty. I got a white one, and I'm excited to get it. The battery life alone is going to make such a huge difference. Also, on topic. The game awards are dumb. But I appreciate Reggie being there after Douglas "We already have Reggie at home" Bowser was on stage and accepting the award for all the work he did on Metroid Dread.

Ordered an OLED for pickup at a local Target and the dude gave me some weird attitude about it. Whatever, retail is hell so unless he uses a slur, I don't care. Went to skim the electronics section and they had at least 6 OLEDs available. I wonder if the tude was connected to me making them do extra work? Like I should have know it would be on the floor and in low demand?

Yeah, that's fair. It's not a very busy store at the worst of times but service folks get as much slack as they want, in my book.

played paper mario since it's on switch online. i know a lot of people were worried about input lag for the battles but it's nonexistent. except in the out-of-combat menu, which is just loving terrible. laggy as hell. awful. everything else is perfect but that menu just sucks rear end

Out of curiosity, did anyone here with a Switch OLED keep their Lite? I played almost exclusively on a Lite and I love it but I'm struggling to think of a reason to keep it, especially since keeping the OLED docked like I did my OG Switch is a waste. Last thing I want is for it to rot in a drawer, I'll probably just give it away.

Define laggy cause I think even in the original it was a bit slow? Then again that start menu seems to be a bit of a bane in emulation due to how that game handles the buffers. Guess I shouldn't be surprised that's the one issue this version of the game has.

My wife & I jumped into Super picross (or whatever the Switch SNES online version is) and after a bunch of jokes about ‘haha yeah we can definitely read Japanese’ we were hooked for an hour. What a simple but fun puzzle

Mario's Super Picross in the SNES app is an interesting jumping point for getting into Picross. Not only does it have the language barrier, but it's missing a bunch of QOL stuff that makes the newer games so much more convenient. I can't imagine (well I guess I can imagine cause I did it and also completed all 300 puzzles) going from a modern Picross game to that version. On the flip side though, if you're able to get hooked for free on the SNES version and decide to pick up a Picross S game because of it, you'll be in absolute heaven with all the QOL additions.
