All of my car opinions were set in stone by Gran Turismo 2 (Lancer rules, WRX drools).

Here's my Mustang Event tune:

154 219 806

Finally got it so you don't lose the rear end end on every corner. You might not catch anyone in the straights, but I went from finishing in the middle of the pack to winning with a several second lead. Barely had to touch the brakes at all in the first race.

I wouldn't recommend using the 2069 Bronco for cross country events or the trial this week. Landings after jumps seem completely broken with it compared to any other car. Use the T6 Ranger if you have it.

I have a couple tunes I'm p happy with if y'all wanna try them out - couldn't find the codes but it's probably easier to just search by creator for tf2f Broseph anyway. There's a B Road VW Corrado and an A Dirt Jeep CJ, and if anyone wants I could make clips showing the parts and tuner sliders if ya wanna see or mess with things. They aren't like meta perfect but the goal was basically find a cool ride and squeeze enough out of it to take some rival times from Happy Pirate.

He’s a hacker! He knows your IP, it’s 127.0.0.1

I have one, too, on festival gatecrash. There is a bug where it registers a race time in a modified car as a clean time at the stock PI for that car. That’s what most of the superfast times are. Race his ghost and you will see it probably starts at the back of a grid rather than the starting line.

seems like something that would be pretty easy to fix I'm a little annoyed at how they just don't fix all this poo poo and how the top of every leaderboard is totally fraudulent. Including times under one second which can't be explained by this particular bug

I'm FireFlan! Along with Powershift's explanation, I think I know what's happening here. Before they patched out the ability to upgrade your car parts in the pre-race tuning menu, I took a D class car to Llanuras and upgraded it to S2 to get the "beat unbeatable drivatars 10x in a row" accolade.

Dirt is fun enough. Cross-country races continue to be a pain mind, even when keeping it sensible with the vehicle class. I forget which event in particular pushed me over the edge, but after one-too-many instances of unavoidable[1] water that'd see the entire rest of the pack (most in the same vehicle as me) blow past me as if on bare, stable ground... I decided 'fair engagement' wasn't worth the effort, and dropped the AI down a few notches just to finish out that event category ASAP so I could get on with my life.

[1] Don't mind water as a hazard to account for, or patches of water that sap your lead if you aren't on the ball. But I swear some events saw you needing to plough through extensive bodies of water, that you couldn't avoid or otherwise finesse, while the rest of the field are exhaust-spewing messiahs.

I've found that ride height is a big factor on how much water depth you can easily handle. If you're up high enough that only the wheels are in the water it barely affects you, but as soon as body panels get in you're in trouble.

Then how do you explain your sub-1 second time on the Malpais trailblazer?

xzzy
Mar 5, 2009

Ride height 100% matters for you, but AI cars can ignore it completely. I did the cross country races that has you go through that river in the SW corner in a D500 beetle and all the slow cars that I was racing against blasted under the bridge like they were on dry pavement.

Absolutely. I feel like vehicle mass can help as well, to some extent? Its more the 'effect on you' vs 'effect on AI' thing that is annoying. If hazards like water applied equitably, I'd feel better about the cross country stuff. If I take a relatively low clearance vehicle through a water hazard, sure, I can bog down. But so should the AI cars that are the same vehicle as me :argh:

Anyway, enough of my griping! Over the coming days my focus will be on finding the driftable car I enjoy the most, and start getting serious with the drift zones. Drifting was something in FH4 I found myself enjoying much more than I initially expected.
