Team K🖕ng(Mick Garris and Mike Flanagan) An offshoot of 🎈All Hail Stephen King🪓. I was gonna put Flanagan with Kubrick. That would have been funnier. But look, Mike Flanagan and Mick Garris have two big things in common. One is a tendency to make Stephen King adaptions. Another is a real hatred from horror fans. But not me. I love them. Garris isn’t great but he’s a nice guy who loves horror and helps make a lot happen like Masters of Horror. And he’s got a few good movies. Critters 2 is better than the original. And Mike Flanagan is a guy I love. His stuff is a lot less about scaring people or gore or “fun kills” or any of that stuff and more about the old “haunting” idea of loss and grief and human emotions. And I think he does it well. I like him. I like both of them. I like King too. So to all the haters we all say 🖕. Imagine if this was just like 10 4-8 hour miniseries? 1. Gerald's Game by Mike Flanagan 2. Oculus by Mike Flanagan 3. Ouija: Origin of Evil by Mike Flanagan 4. Before I Wake by Mike Flanagan 5. Absentia by Mike Flanagan 6. Sleepwalkers by Mick Garris 7. Critters 2 by Mick Garris 8. Psycho IV – The Beginning by Mick Garris 9. Riding the Bullet by Mick Garris 10. Valerie on the Stairs by Mick Garris 11. Quicksilver Highway by Mick Garris 12. Desperation by Mick Garris 13. Chocolate by Mick Garris

Whenever it's convenient, can I update The Mexecutioner's Song to be Rogelio A. González and Carlos Enrique Taboada? This removes the problematic Juan López Moctezuma film and keeps the team under 10. 1. The Ship of Monsters 1960 by Rogelio A. González 2. The Skeleton of Mrs. Morales 1960 by Rogelio A. González 3. Dr. Satan vs. Black Magic 1968 by Rogelio A. González 4. One Minute Before Death 1972 by Rogelio A. González 5. Even the Wind Is Afraid (1968) by Carlos Enrique Taboada 6. This one is not strictly horror, but instead movies about horror movies. I figured folks would be into these but I'm also happy to disqualify the team if it's pushing the rules a little too much. I actually started with building around Soavi because I couldn't leave him unnominated when he still has The Church and Cemetery Man left. But then when I noticed Raimi was left and still had Evil Dead it was a perfect fit with him and Gordon.

Maybe even would help if I just called it Team Grave Encounters. That was their one real cult hit that I think everyone knows but over the last year or two I’ve ended up seeing all of their films and I find them an interesting and entertaining duo, if maybe a bit sophomoric and flawed. Minhan also wrote Z and Spiral bringing Kurtis David Harder and Brandon Christensen not the extended Vicious Family. And they make such pretty posters. 1. I kind of want to nominate Alfred Hitchcock straight up. He's only got 2 horrors listed on Letterboxd and when we tried to determine how many of his films counted last year we only had 5. But he's got 30 thrillers. And I feel like I've seen so many thrillers that don't strike me as horror at all get nominated that being picky with Hitchcock feels like punishing him for his success. Like we'd let it one director with 1 or 2 films or a director who just needs a couple of thrillers to meet the number. But the Master of Suspense is kept out? So yeah, nominating Alfred Hitchcock with like 30 films. He still has to be voted on to make the tournament.

Yes, they'll all get 1-3 seeds. I might just play around with them to theme up the brackets. MAYBE a 4 seed. I mean I could do like the NCAA does and put them and they playins in the middle arbitrarily. But I hate that. So automatic bids have the top seeds and playins have the bottom.
