No ... because it's "Ubisoft Connect" now  There's no way around it though - it's built in to the game like most Ubisoft titles and is going to be required no matter where you get a copy.

Godfall Challenger Edition and Prison Architect are out for free on Epic this week. Having played Prison Architect since early access its a fun title I'd recommend to anyone with a building sim interest. It has had a lot of feature creep (mostly great) over the years to a point it caters for a lot of what can be in, have happen and be done in a prison environment - with the exception of sexual assault. Everything from different prisoner grades & types, snitches, surveillance, escapes, riots, death row, gang wars, smuggling to rehabilitation, administration, prison jobs, mental health and playing as an escaping prisoner. Sometimes though you will need to look at some guides to figure out how to correctly incorporate some features. If you've played Rimworld you will certainly find a lot of familiarity.

But they own the brand and are trying to make money off the IP. Like that one terrible crossover fighting game they published that had a few Cave Story characters in it (plus Shovel Knight and Binding of Isaac's Isaac). Of course they didn't pay Pixel anything for it

It's well-reviewed but it's very unique gameplay. If you play strategy games that kinda look similar to this you're used to it being about knowing the systems and iron man-ing the obstacles. In this one, you're told if you haven't saved for 30 seconds. Any wrong move means death, it's like a puzzle game in that regard.
