Normalcy bias is a hell of a thing. A French colonial city in the 1900s spent like a week watching a volcano give out signs of a violent eruption and never evacuated (the city got wiped out with less than a handful of survivors).

"Things seem fine to me" vs "We would be spending a lot of money and pissing off our donors to maybe fix a problem that may not exist" is always going to end with the former viewpoint winning, especially if the people in charge are insulated from consequence and so old they'll probably die before ever being proven wrong.

There's no grand conspiracy, just decision via committee where the committees are all run by people who are a mix of old/rich/dumb. Most of Congress has no idea what the gently caress a CME even is, these are literally people who think islands float.

Having been "burned" so early I'm pretty skeptical of anyone who claims to have contact with or speak for aliens (I still think they're real, though). There's a lot of conflicting messages out there so it's difficult to say which are the most credible.

The 12,000 year solar cycle thing with the sun casting off a civilization-killing CME has got me thinking about this again:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZDzWIG7x_4&t=45s

Maybe that's the event he's referring to. I know a lot of people say that's bullshit but *crying* it's still real to me, dammit!

That's... quite the call. The sun stuff is spooky because we have no real idea what the upper bound is on what the sun could throw at us and it could happen as suddenly as an earthquake, but it's definitely one of those things more advanced beings would know. One captivating thought to me has been thinking of the Tower of Babel story as a technologically advanced civilization being reduced to nothing more than its brick & mortar by a solar event and the survivors being cast to the wilderness, splintering into groups & developing their own cultures.

Yea but that reply was about global warming and CMEs not aliens

Like literally the path of that was "decision makers must know the sun is going to kill us because otherwise why aren't they doing anything about global warming?"

"No its because they're short-sighted morons with no clue how anything works"

"Policy on aliens isn't set by congress"

He has said that The Protocols of the Elders of Zion are true historic documents and advocated Holocaust denial, so if he has since separated his lizard people from ordinary human Jewish folks, he's just a regular antisemite then.

Frankly, I haven't kept up in a good long while so maybe he's changed his tune recently, but he's got a long history of blending his alien stuff with other implicitly and explicitly antisemitic conspiracy theories like the Rothschilds and New World Order poo poo, so he doesn't get the benefit of the doubt from me if he's since walked it back.

yea but it's good to repost stuff like this for the silent majority of thread skimmers

i'm cautiously optimistic but despite all my hyped up shitposting about aitees and spirit friends i'm finding it difficult to accept much beyond 'weird poo poo happening, dunno what' until there's something more concrete; we know the phenomenon exists with a reasonable degree of certainty at this point, but no more than that, and if whatever it is has remained this elusive for this long i'm not expecting a plucky team of ufoailures who came together a year ago to suddenly blow the lid off the whole thing

The last time I checked out David Icke, he was on Jimmy Church's show. Regardless of anything antisemitism related (I know that's a big thing to regardless over) his actual content, such as it was, was dogshit. He spent the whole 2 hour radio program ranting about how close minded his critics and academics and opponents and mainstream media all are, that was literally it, just an uninterrupted breathless rant about how some people are so closed minded they can't even see the truth about the lizard bloodline rothschilds. Something about the basic idea here (UFOs are in the sky, we want hard data on UFOs, lets point a bunch of cameras at the sky) rubs me the wrong way, like it's an overly simplistic, a simpleton's idea of an all-sky survey (which is a very challenging thing to pull off correctly) or of UFOs themselves. Would this approach have revealed the existence of Fravor's tic-tac? I doubt it.

Besides that, I don't really trust people to properly interpret whatever data were collected here. If the state of r/ufos is any indication, people are generally very bad at interpreting photographic data. They don't seem to understand selection effects, artifacts, noise, diffraction-limited optics, etc. Hence why every other submission on r/ufos is just a light or a dot, or else someone has digitally zoomed in on a point source of light to the point where all we can see is the camera aperture, and people want to read structure into that noise. Even something as simple as a small bug close to the camera confuses people over there.

I have no doubt that if you leave a bunch of cameras on the sky 24//7 you will catch some anomalies that you won't recognize. That doesn't mean you've captured hard data on the tic-tac, that is a much harder argument to make.

tbh i think the reason it's not out there is just that the world is run by incompetent stupid bureaucracies that can't deal with a weird difficult subject like this

also fear, both of the inexplicable nature of the phenomenon itself and of admitting the powers that be aren't actually in complete control

The biggest problem with Earth is that human society is organized enough to damage its ecosystem but seemingly not organized enough to stop processes it itself puts in place. I don't buy it as a serious theory because we're not setting a stable temperature, we're initiating runaway processes and feedback loops that would make the planet inhospitable to anything. Earth as it is now is more desirable than making Venus 2 on purpose.

However if we concede that humanity is a disorganized mess, that's also the perfect set of circumstances for something more well-organized to take control.
