i got my gold card for AAA, they certainly make more from me than i use, but the times i've needed it, life saver. Pretty sure i bent the rules getting my friends truck towed - i was there with him so that part was legit, but i also had my own car there....

One time I stopped for for a disabled car on highway 20, near Clear Lake. This is a pretty notorious cell phone dead zone, so I took her AAA card, and drove 10 mins to find service, and gave AAA her GPS coords. Everything worked out except now you can't ride with the tow truck driver because of covid. Which, I get. But man, there aren't a lot of good alternatives out in the middle of nowhere.

I've done this plenty of times, and the tow drivers don't really care. If you're somewhere with a disabled vehicle and your AAA card, they'll tow you (as long as youre on a 'maintained' road.)

Speaking of Farah/TST, they just released the first episode of their new cheap car challenge series: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIncQODpC8s Top Gear style challenge, taking cheap used cars and modifying them to try to be better than a crossover while being more interesting to enthusiasts. They also released their two previous "All Cars Go to Heaven" movies free on Youtube as a promo for this series. Both of them involve taking beater cars across entire states using as little pavement as possible. The first is probably just for the fans, the second one though has a Model T along for the trip just because and that's worth the watch on its own.
