The ideal closing to have had enough time to get drunk that going to an afters around then seems reasonable.

It really seems like the worst possible compromise between staying open as is or closing entirely or much earlier.

Don't know if it's different across the sea.
When I quit back in 2003 or thereabouts I was the lone weirdo who didn't drink in any of my various social circles. Now it's not uncommon for people to never have started until well into their 20s and to take it easy even then.

Turns out the logistics are hosed, so what you do is you get registered for a GP and then you go to a walk-in vaccination center and they will update your record there with your proof of vaccination from the EU.

Thanks so much! Turns out I might have gotten the Rona so I'm a month off of getting my booster probably. Time to register with a GP I guess!

They're not wrong to be fair.

8pm closing time is just a farce. Instead of having groups of 6, all vaccinated, getting table service its going to be tens of thousands of people every night being thrown out onto the street half cut at 8pm, so obviously going to go back to completely uncontrolled, way more sociable, house parties.

I'm in my 30s and there are more big house parties being organised by my friend groups on Whatsapp than at any time since I was in college, its madness.

The public polls and Google movement statistics are very clear on this, most people of all ages just socialise at parties/events in houses when they can't in hospitality venues. The desire/need to socialise doesn't go away, and compliance with lockdown measures has dropped steadily and progressively from April 2020 every month that goes by.

Maybe you just aren't getting invited to parties? Thats unfortunate :v:

Me (early 40s) and my late 30's bro got treble vaccinated today and going by what I saw hanging around the surgery for about 10 minutes, there is a very big enthusiasm for getting boosted right now. The people i saw coming in to get a booster were late 20s to middle 40s and there were a lot of them.

Just back from getting booster in Derry and the big vaccination centre was practically empty, in and out in about 5 minutes. Not sure if there's just low walk-in volume cause people think it will be packed out because the appointments are all gone, or just because Sunday lunchtime isn't exactly peak hours.

Up North we just extended the walk-in system to anyone over the age of 18 as well as of like lunchtime today.

My family and I were told during the week that our GP was doing Boosters today. So we queed up for 8.00 for a 10.00 opening. We were the first people there. Looked like quite a number of people there when we left.

The big walk-in centres are all completely swamped round here; if I hadn't gotten lucky with being registered at a surgery that apparently has bucketloads of spare booster doses, I'd almost certainly be out standing in the cold for 3+ hours at the MVC nearest to me. At the doctors, I was literally in and out in under 5 minutes, it was wonderful :)

Got boostered yesterday with my GP who contacted me, just in time to be covered by it when I return from the wicked wastes of the UK. Got our tests booked over there for Sunday, flyin back Monday morning. Still not looking forward to being over there, though I usually feel a bit off there anyway?

In the parts of Twitter I frequent his name is spoken in tones normally reserved for John McGuirk. You can reliably tell what's true by flipping what he says.

ETA: also nobody seems to notice that 90k kits is actually 450k tests. ~3k positives is less than 1%. Fucker can't even lie to within an order of magnitude of the truth...

HSE is still contacting people but to catch up on their late booster rollout they have sent vaccines to GPs that previously stopped doing the vaccine (admin is super mega hassle apparently) and guilt tripped them into helping out. Subsequently GPs and pharmacies have a load of stock and are calling around asking friends/neighbours if they want it. I’m 34 and most of my friends have got it this way. Got mine yesterday from a GP friend.

Through your PPS number the HSE will know to contact you or not after
