What bits do you all recommend to represent combat shotguns on goliaths? Those cylinder carbines that come on the sprue? They aren't very shotgun-like to me. Looking for a better option. Edit: Oh heck, I found a little stubby shotgun on the sprue.

After ordering late in the summer I have at last gotten my Nuclear Shrimp Lucious Pattern Warlord Titan and Gargant. The size on these is incredible, they are absolutely massive chunks of resin. That said, I think the company wasn't quite up to the challenge of casting such large pieces. Quality is definitely lacking for the price I paid. Lots of soft details, especially on the gargant, and in some areas the mold lines are more like mold cliffs. Fortunately I'm a sculptor, so I can just hack out what I don't like and rebuild. Again, the scale of them is incredible, so while disappointed in the quality (and time it took for them to actually ship), I think these will make excellent additions to my armies. I expect to spend at least as long is at took my to assemble my AT Reaver titan just cleaning up the warlord alone. I'm not going to recommend Nuclear Shrimp if you aren't confident in your ability to clean up and fix up large models. I'm going to extremely lightly recommend them if you are ok with that.

If you don't mind me suggesting it, some before and after pics (at least of the model itself, not so much painting) would be extremely cool to see, I think! I'm not skilled in this area, so it'd be very interesting to see how it would look after a capable sculptor has made some changes. No stress though - good to hear you're able to turn the situation into a net positive, either way!

I'm not even sure how I'd go about starting such a task, let alone what it should look like when it's done! Do you like, cut/shave away some sections, then fill it in how you like it with green stuff, or something? No idea. Seems like a great skill to have though, in this hobby

Yeah I'm cutting sections down quite a bit. Lately I've been mixing 50/50 green stuff and magic sculpt. (I have like 5 pounds of magic sculpt I need to get used up as it is getting old.) I often work with ceramics, which has resulted in my phones camera being totally ruined by the dust. So if I photo stuff I have to get out my dslr that never goes near clay.

I couldn't stop myself and bought a BB team of woodies yesterday. My club had like 10 guys starting to play it now. I have played so much on the computer for the last 20 years, fumbbl, BB1 and 2 that I considered myself a grandmaster but I get a bit turned off when rules and stats that I have always known are suddenly changed. Is there a summary somewhere with what the new edition brings? I saw a new skill, something weird about passing, team changes to orcs , multiple possibilities to use rerolls per turn. Some new starplayers, saw black gobbo had bombs but no secret weapon? The rest looked the same.

I've stopped using pure GS altogether and just use a 3:1 GS:MS since it sculpts just as well and is hard enough to carve and sand when cured.

I have been varying it, but not that much, I'll give 3:1 a try. Also progress report, after an esitamted 6 hours of cleaning time I'm still working on the Warlord titan. I did get the Gargant cleaned up and built, it is an ork titan so whatever if it isn't perfect. I will take pictures of the titan arm guns, they are kinda laughable in the state they came in. They would assemble crooked with massive gaps and really ugly parts showing.

Makes greenstuff carveable and conversely stops magic sculpt from disintegrating and dissolving with too much water. Also that titan sounds like hell. You can see it's really rough even on the website photos.

Nuclear Shrimp Warlord Titan after rougly 6 hours of clean-up. I know cause I've been listening to the dune audio book the whole time and that is how far I am in. That is a major casting fault, that entire plate was rippled, I've been cutting and sanding it back and roughing in the lines. It needs a lot of clean up and material added, but is coming along. No longer looks like waves. The volcano cannon. I kinda just laugh at how bad that connection looks. Going to gap fill like crazy and them build up some pipes or more plates to conceal it and make the whole thing look more substantial. That little bit poking up also looks awful, it attaches into a socket that goes in the "armpit" of the titan. If ambitions strikes me I'm totally redoing how the arms connect. I might get some 3rd party AT arms. Speaking of the "armpit", you can see how much of this I had to hack out in order to make the attachment point for the socket accessible. The gatling blaster is a bit worse than the volcano cannon, if I glued it naturally it would be insanely crooked. I think I'm going to remove the entire joining area and rework it big time. Or I'll find a titanicus one as even the barrel assembly leaves a lot to be desired. I might just work with the existing one to see what I can do with the kit as is. yikes Loss of detail and blurring. Further down the leg we find lots of resin filling where gaps should be. I've removed most of it at this point, only the more challenging spaces remain. Some of the toes are pretty rough/blurred, I might cast the good ones with blue stuff and just make replacements. I've been looking for an excuse to use my blue stuff. The hip is very very rough. I've put a lot of time into this part and it is not looking good. An armor plate. NS has told me this was a new mold, hence the massive delay in shipping. I ordered this in the first week of September. I believe them, I've been picking mold out of the pieces this whole time. I really think this was too large for their technical abilities. I've done a solid amount of art casting, and I really despise casting resin, it is tricky. To their credit I've found no major air bubbles, only a couple spots with clusters of micro-bubbles. Cards on the table, I normally professionally sculpt in the 24 - 36 inch range. I've also done some 28mm work, in addition to lots of 6mm work for hobby stuff, eons ago I did some commission work in those scales. I normally focus more on organic forms, not mechanical, but I feel I'm up to the challenge. I'll post updates whenever I have the time. Yeah I would caution most against buying from them. I'm sure if someone has their heart set on a Lucius pattern warlord titan they could find an STL and print one. I bought this one in September to take to a tournament in November. With the titan arriving last week. I'm confident this will end up making a great addition to my collection though, but it needs a ton of work to get there. The Gargant has a lot more blurring, but the overall quality of the cast is much better. I spent about an hour cleaning it up and already built it. I would mildly recommend it, but maybe I got a good one. Virtual Russian fucked around with this message at 18:24 on Dec 19, 2021 |

I've had good experiences from Metal Oak Casting Studios on having them print me some "Alternate" AT titans, and I'll probably look to them for the Armiger rules, because I am not paying $60 for three teeny models that, if I'm being honest, will carry the FW "seal of approval," in that they'll look awful and have almost as much resin the the vent they cut the bit from as the bit itself.

The big thing the nuclear shrimp warlord has going for it is IMO it is a supremely well designed and scaled version of the Lucius Pattern Warlord. I always really like the Lucius in the art, but felt the actual model looked awkward and never lived up to the art. The NS Warlord does, but obviously has it's downsides.

I had a feeling this is what would happen- I reckon their production backlog was so massive, they sacrificed Cursed City to push out Dominion & the huge number of other boxed games we've had this year. Now they've created a bit of space they're resurrecting it. Awful communication, obviously. But I'm psyched! It's taken me all year to paint just a quarter of the set but I can't wait for expansions.
