They never had 50 votes for BBB, hell they never even defined at a basic level what BBB even included, it was constantly being adjusted and renegotiated. Manchin allowed the Dems to pretend a great bill potentially containing all your greatest political desires was just around the corner for almost a whole year, which was very nice of him.
